Night Terror While Awake Or a Seizure? Posted: 08-02-04 09:23am
I have had epilepsy(petit mal) for years
and have been seizure free for over 5
months since surgery. I recently went on
birth control and embarrassingly enough,
was in an arguement with my husband. The
stress of surgery and everything involved
has created a load of stress for a long
time. I am not talking just a little
stressed. Anyway, I went into some kind
of transe and started screaming with fear
while very upset. I knew right away I
had a seizure, yet my husband said I
didn't. It was exactly like a night
terror, but I was awake. My husband had
to grab me and try to get me to stop
screaming, which I remember. I don't
remember hearing myself screaming, yet I
remember getting extremely frightened and
the fear remained after.
My only guess is that it was a combination
of the hormones and stress, which
triggered something. My brain was
basically rewired after surgery and maybe
this is something new. I haven't had any
other signs since that night. This is
the freakiest thing I have ever
experienced in my life. I feel like I
was posessed or something (just a bit of
humor-not true).
Any thoughts? I stopped the birth
control immediately.
