Premature Baby Posted: 08-02-04 16:17pm
Hi everyone!! I dont know if yall
remember me telling yall that my best
friend was preggy. Well yesterday was her
baby shower and of course we were all
looking foward on seeing her. When I got
inside I looked around for her and I
didn't see her but I did see her bf so I
asked him where she was and he told me she
had barely had the baby!!!!!!! The thing
is she was not due for until sep 3, well
it turned out there was something wrong
with her something about a toxic in her
blood ( I dont know what that is can some
one plz explain )
so they had to induce her labor. She had
a boy he was 17" long, weighed 4lbs and
they named him joshua dillan. I hope he's
fine since he was born 6 weeks early.

She probably had pre-eclampsia, which is
where you have extremely high blood
pressure. It can lead to eclampsia, which
is the full blown condition and that can
cause convulsions, seizures, or coma in
the most serious of cases. The only
"cure" or "treatment" is delivery. So
they most likely delivered the baby early
to prevent her from getting full blown
eclampsia. I'm sure she is fine, and the
doctors probably made sure the baby was
fine before delivery! Let me know how she
is doing!

I bet it was what I had. Pih (pregnancy
induced hypertension) aka toxemia....They
had to induce me for it too. And I named
my son joshua. Haha funny. Im sure the
baby is ok.

Yeah...Thats probably the more "familiar"
term! Its all hypertension...High blood
pressure! There is always more than one
word for all the medical stuff....And oh
how lucky am I to have to learn all of
them! Haha

There's also toxoplasmosis, but that's
treatable. They wouldn't have delivered
for that. But that's another "toxic"
sounding thing!
