Many of Us Worry Posted: 08-04-04 22:44pm
Regardless of age - many of us worry, you
just have to keep trying to get things
into perspective - one researcher says you
shoulds eat butter another says you
shouldn't etc, you can't win if you listen
to both (you'll end up not eating
anything!@!) so be sensible in your food,
exercise, lifestyle & don't make
yourself ill (literally) by worrying.
I know easier said than done - i'm not
great at doing it either.

You know you are not the only one. I
start to worry even before I wake up... I
wake up worrying... Maybe thats because
i'm in the middle of a career change...
I just can't stop thinking about
interviews and money and future even if if
try... The images and sound just kept
popping in my mind the whole time
what I am trying to do is really think
about the better things in life... That
money is not all important.. Love, health
and happiness is most important
i try to relax whenever I can, I take vits
such as vit b complex but tries to stay
off drugs, cuz I am worried about
withdrawal symptons
hang in there.. We are here with you

Something that has always helped me is
meditation. The attempt to clear your
mind of everything. It is very difficult
at first, but as you sit there, strait
up, I sometimes prop myself up against the
wall. Just focus on relaxing each part of
your body from head to toe slowly. Just
focus on each part for like 5-10 seconds
more if need be. Then after that sit
there with your eyes closed. Actually
they should be closed the whole time with
as much noise as possible taken away. But
after you relax your body in the way
earlier described, focus on your
breathing. If ou realize some worry or
other thought of any kind seeping into
your mind do away with it. Keep focusing
on your breath in and then out. It won't
happen perfectly the first or second or
even the first ever. But it is all an
attempt to clear your mind and come as
close to perfect as you can. The more you
do it the better you will get at it. I do
it every night before bed it really helps
slow your mind and body to a restful
state. As you get more adept at focusing
and clearing your mind. Try not to focus
on your breathing, and jjust clear your
mind as much as you can. You will get to
a point where you realize you are barley
breathing at all and are so completely
relaxed. This has helped me tremendously.
Don't get discouraged with it. Keep
trying. Do it as long as you want or can.
Give it a try, it works.

Hey mist, I have been trying to learn
meditation or yoga... But have not really
been able to get down to doing it...
After the 3rd min or so, my back aches and
I end up lying down and going to sleep
how long is your meditation sessions?
Its always the problem with modernization,
we are getting less exercise, more
chemicals (aka preserved food),
information overload.
Did you heard that there is such a thing
called rich country sickness? Where as a
country gets richer, their people gets
less exercise and more stress....
Well I can go an hour or so. Of course
the whole time i'm focusing on clearing my
mind. It will be clear then invaded,
clear then invaded. It is a constant
battle, but it isn't tireing. It gets
your mind off whatever is invading. I
mentioned in my post that I prop up my
back. My bed is up against the wall, so I
usually sit straight backed against the
wall with a pillow on my lap that I can
rest my arms on so that my hands can hang
limp without touching anything or each
other. Meditation is for relaxation so if
your back is aching after three minutes
you are tensing up to much.
As for the "rich country sickness" I have
never heard of that. I can't really see
how being in a rich country causes more
stress than being in a poor country.
Everyone has problems. They are just
different problems. As for the presereved
foods and chemicals I can understand that.
I have recently changed my diet from
fastfood all the time almost to home
cooked meals with vegtables and stuff. I
have so much more energy now. My skin is
clearing up too. Less exercise is
happening I know that why else would we
have to pay to lift weights to looks like
we should. Poor countrys have to work so
much harder for everything and lack desk
jobs for the most part. So they are
overall going to have more exercise.
Ps. I added you to my msn contacts so
i'll message you if I see you on.
