due date on first time pregnancy's and if
so whay is that?? Is that why they have
said you can go 2-week's either or??

Not that i've heard, usually the two weeks
is down to in-exact timing of conception
and beacuse it makes things easier to work
out if you go from first day of last
period there by leaving two weeks of non
pregnancy.
Another way to work out the edd is to
subtrat 3 months from your last period
(first day of) and add 7days. So for me
this is june 18 - 3 months = march 18 + 7
days = march 25
plenty of room for error though as some
months have 28,30,31 days.
Also a 38 week baby is considered full
term, which for me would be march 11 -
even though I know technically I would
only be 36weeks then as I know my date of
conception (within 2/3days) so if my baby
went to full 40 weeks that would bring me
to april 8!!! Which is why your doctor
would give you 2weeks either way.
Hope this makes sense

The two week either way is for several
reasons - some women ovulate at different
times each month & others ovulate
early or late in the month hence making
precise calculations impossible then
there's the fact that the babi hasn't read
the "book" telling him/her when to arrive
& he/she may have his/her own
ideas!!!!!! ( I personally like
this point)- also there can be
environmental factors which lead a baby to
be born early or late & by giving a 2
week leeway either way the mum (&
dad!!) are less likely to panic!!

Hello I work in a doctors office as an ob
nurse and full term is
considered after 36 weeks but doctors will
not deliver until 38 weeks
unless necessary because your lmp is only
one of the things the doctor
goes by ultrasound is the most accurate in
most cases the due date
doesn't change that much but if there was
a case where they had to
deliver sooner they do an amniocentises
and that will tell you if your baby's
lungs are mature enough and something neat
to know is that a girls lungs
develop sooner but they have hormone
injections that you get in each hip
that develops the baby's lung in 24hrs so
when you go to the doctor they
will do not set you back two weeks if it's
your first pregnancy because
lets say your 38 weeks along it really
won't matter either way you will
still be 36 or 40 weeks even if it was off
a couple weeks hope you find this
helpful if you have anymore questions just
let me know

I guess where my confusion came in is
where I originally thought(based on
conception) that my due date would be at
the end of january but instead they have
dated it for around the first of february.
(not reeally a big difference..Lol) I
have very irregular period's and I also
didn't know if the size of a fetus can
actually make your due date wrong and
wondered if that was why the 2-week period
was given. I guess I see where that two
week period would come in. That way there
is a leway and what not. And I guess
because knowone really know's for sure
except the little one..Lol.. Thank you
for answering.
