Question... Posted: 08-07-04 19:58pm
This has been on my mind a lot lately.
Me and the father have worked out most of
our problems but we arent going to be
married b4 the baby is born.
Obviously... And so if we do get married,
say a year or so from now...Since its his
kid but it'll have my last name does he
still have to adopt it? Or will its name
just change? I'm confused...

My babies father and I are getting married
after our lil girl is born, and she'll
have my last name until we get married,
then shell have her dads. That or just
take a dna test and she can have his last
name right away, I dont know if its
different down by you or not but if u do a
dna test your baby can have his last name
even if ur not married.

Hmm, all you gotta do is have the dad sign
a noterized paper claming his is in fact
the father and the baby can have his last
name at birth

Yeah I know a lot of people who were/are
not married and their kids have the
father's last name. Even the parents
who are not together and did not planning
on being together still gave their child
his last name.

Hey...I think she meant....What if she
gives the baby her last name at birth, if
they do decide to get married would the
father have to adopt the baby for it to
get the fathers last name? Does that
makes sense?

Not sure what they would do. Maybe they
would have to take a paternity test to
show his is the father, and they will get
it right away. Adoption takes time.

Well, if you have worked things out, why
don't you just give the baby his last
name, and let him sign the birth
certificate.
