Sorry girls.. I need to vent. Ive been bawling the last two days (probably on account of baby blues too lol) but im so frustrated with not being able to breastfeed anymore. She just wont latch and ive tried everything so I think its time for me to give up. I dont want to tho.. I wihs there was some other way. I tried pumping too and that doesnt seem to be working anymore. It just stresses me out and I cant stop crying aout it. I feel so bad and I feel like im a failure but im tryin to not be so upset about it. I just really wanted to breastfeed ya know... I unno... I know it doesnt seem like a big deal but I just feel like its something I did. And she always turns to me when I hold her and opens her mouth towards my breast and I feel so bad cuz I cant feed her...
Im also scared cuz now I feel like I wont be able to lose the weight and all this just stresses me out. I still got a pooch I need to get rid of... And I sooo miss that bonding time wit danica... It made me seem like it was just me she needed... When she cried it was for me cuz I was the only one whod be able to feed her.. I unno its just so hard. Im scared too cuz my mom said my breasts are gonna hurt sooo bad that they feel like they're getting ripped off. Im tired of all this pain! I need to go take a warm bath to relieve some of the pain down there now anyways, bt I just needed to vent. Sorry girls lol! Im so glad I have this board to turn too. Thanx so much!

Oh my shauna. You are not a failure or anything of the sort! You are trying your best and if it dosen't work, you have to do like kari and give it up. Kari isn't any less of a mother but at the time she felt the same way you are feeling! Sometimes a child just dosen't get the hang of it and you have to quit. You aren't any less of a mother to her for stopping it. She will always need you........ Not just for feeding but you are her mommy! Huni, it's just the stress and stuff. Take a bath. Calm down and think. You are doing everything right and I promise in a few days or so it'll all be better.
As for the pain, do what you can to relieve it and just wait. It is going to go away ok babe! You can do it. I know you can!
As for the weight. It'll go huni. She was born very recently! You have time huni. Wait it out ok.

Has your milk come in yet? I'm guessing yes because she is like 5-6 days old right? When you pump are you getting any milk? I dont really have any advice except if this is something you really want....Keep trying! You're a great mom and she loves you no matter what! Hang in there girl!

Shauna you are anything but a failure... I mean u didnt get an epidural Shocked lol I am sure you can find a way to breastfeed danica, what about putting your breastmilk in a bottle, thats what I plan to do, and feed from my breast too. You will be just fine. It seems everybody gets depressed after their baby is born and then they are ok... So u will be ok.

I am glad you are going to continue trying to breastfeed! It is such a bonding experience, plus she get your antibodies and she will not get sick very much. Just stay calm and relax when she is feeding b/c she can feel you emotions. Good luck! Keep us updated!

Hi sweetie,
i don't know you (i"m laura 21, no kids not pg), but I post here every once in a while and thought i'd try and help, so I googled some stuff for you.
1. Using bottles or pacifiers may confuse her, and diminish her instinct to latch on, try discontinuing that (source http://www.Lamaze.Com/experts/bre astfeeding/qas/0,,258340_259161,00.Html )
2. Try "finger feeding" explained here ( http://www.Parentsplace.Com/expe rt/lactation/qas/0,,166433_261152,00.Html< /a> )
3. Try contacting a lactation consultant, la leche is one organisation, their website is
www.Lalechecanada.Ca
4. Http://www.Parentsplace.Com/featu res/primer/qas/0,,166425_106251,00.Html
5. Most things I looked up reccomended first to see a lactation consultatnt or specialist before undertaking the above actions, just to make sure there's no unerlying problem.

I hope I helped, best of luck to you, hope she starts latching on like a pro!
