Hairloss

Ok, i'm starting to get concerned. I know that after pregnancy, you're supposed to have a little hairloss...But i'm still losing quite a bit of hair and ethan is 6 months old now. I'm not sure if this is even post pregnancy related anymore. My hair is well conditioned and the last time I dyed my hair was over 2 months ago. I'm kinda worried because my hair is getting really thin. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be?? When I wash my hair in the shower, it's almost like handfulls of hair coming out and when I look at the shower floor, my hair is everywhere. My mom has even began yelling at me for getting my hair all over the bathroom floor when I brush my hair now. And I actually think it's getting worse instead of better. I don't wanna go bald! Somebody please help!

Sometimes it can be caused by stress! Is there anything going on now thats "more stressful" than normal? Maybe you should see a doc?!?!

Hair loss is very common in pregnancy-all those hormones do crazy things to you so it's only to be expected that up to a few months after the pregnancy your body is still sorting itself out & therefore there will continue to be huge hormonal changes even after bubbas born.
Dying your hair also weakens it which could be why you get hair loss. Dyes contaning peroxide or amonia are very strong & often work to change the chemical structure of your hair. Frequent brushing & over use of styling products also weakens the hair.
Or it could be due to mild alopecia in which your immune system attacks your hair follicles.
I found some good info on-line:
causes:
physical stress: surgery, illness, anemia, rapid weight change.
Emotional stress: mental illness, death of a family member.
Thyroid abnormalities.
Medications: high does of vitamin a -- blood pressure medications -- gout medications.
Hormonal causes: pregnancy, birth control pills, menopause.

Causes of temporary hair loss include:

medication - drugs used to treat cancer, blood thinners, antidepressants and high blood pressure medications, as well as birth control pills and high doses of vitamin a, may cause hair loss.
Diet - too little protein and too little iron in your diet can lead to hair loss.
Stress or illness - you may begin losing hair one to three months after a stressful situation, such as major surgery. High fevers, severe infections or chronic illnesses can result in hair loss.
Childbirth - you may lose large amounts of hair within two to three months after delivery.
Alopecia areata - a condition in which hair loss occurs only in certain areas, resulting in hair loss patches the size of a coin or larger.
Thyroid disease - an overactive or underactive thyroid can cause hair loss. More information on thyroid problems:-
ringworm - if this fungal infection occurs on your scalp, it can cause small patches of scaling skin and some hair loss.

Hun my hair falls out in like handfulls at a time. And im not preggy its cuz I have dyed my hair soooo much its so fried and dead lol...I use so much condisner(sp?) on it and leave it in while I wash my body and all that stuff...And I use a comb to brush my hair. Using a normal brush makes it come out even more..

Ethan is 6 months old now. Everything i've read about losing hair after pregnancy is within the first 4 months after having the baby. My hair is really thin now. If it keeps falling out at this rate, i'll be balding within the next 2 months...No joke.

Well, call your doc and ask. It could still be from the pregnancy. Most people probably stop after four months, but that doesn't mean that it still cannot happen. But, it could also be stress. I dunno. I lose my hair like crazy all of the time, but I am not bald yet! But there was a time when I was sure that I was gonna be. I am pretty sure it was from stress though. I lost a lot of freakin hair. A lot of it.

It grows back eventually doesn't it? That's kind of scary. I'm not looking forward to that part of pregnancy/childbirth!

Girls-i would recommend going to the doctors for bad hair loss because it must be hard to deal with being a woman
