tax questions

I am getting married in a month and I suddenly started wondering the best way to file taxes this coming year, joint or seperately. Anyone know a good message board where I can ask some tax questions?

Thanks!

Congrats on your upcoming marriage. My husband and I were married october 2002, and when we went to do our taxes, we were told that under most circumstances it is always best to file jointly. They only reason the accountant saw to file separate was if one of us a huge amount of assets and the other did not. We did not fit into that category, so we went with filing jointly. We got all of our money back (state and federa) as well.

Good luck!

My situation is, I make 12,000 a year, he makes 26,000 a year, I have a child from a previous relationship who lives with me. Last year my fiance had to pay in when he got his taxes done, I got a 3500.00 refund, will I still get a refund if we file jointly? Or will we end up owing because together we make so much more?
Thanks!

Hmm, in that case, I would either talk to an accountant or someone who does tax preparation when it comes time to file. They will be able to give you the best answer.
