Do they sell the morning after pill over
the counter?
What are some other ways of preventing
pregnancy after sex?

Go read the truths and myths of what can
get you pregnant at the top of the page.
You can't prevent pregnancy after you are
preggy..... If you are. And the morning
after pill isn't sold over the
counter......

They sell it over the counter in england
but I don't know about ireland-i wouldn't
think they do but you can ask your
pharmacist or go to a family planning
clinic which i'm sure they have in dublin.
And no you cannot prevent pregnancy after
sex that is so stupid

But its not "preventing" pregnancy... Its
terminating it
the morning after pill terminates an egg
that is already fertilized... So its not
"preventing"
duh

Yes, it is not preventing pregnancy it is
terminating. Also, there is no other way
to terminate a pregnancy unless you wait
and get an abortion. You need to use
protection before/while having sex.

The morning after pill is a huge subject
of debate. I personally don't view it as
terminating it simply prevents it from
ever occurring. Pregnancy cannot occur
unless the fertilized egg attaches to the
uterine wall. It is a common occurrence
when your having unprotected sex that the
egg gets fertilized and for one reason or
another fails to attach (which results in
a period). However since the risk of a
fertilized egg attaching to the uterine
wall are very high the morning after pill
simply insures that this will not occur.
Therefore its simply stopping a pregnancy
from ever beginning. Debatable but thats
how I see it.

In the uk you can now buy levonelle over
the counter, this should only be used as a
last resort kind of thing - it is not
regular birth control.
If you are not mature enough to use birth
control then I doubt you are mature enough
to be having sex.
While this maybe a teen forum I think you
will find the vast majority of regular
ladies very well educated and not at all
immature.

I've taken the map once & i'm glad I
did. What's the point in leaving it &
worrying about it when you can stop it
there & then? I don't consider it
abortion in my personal opinion

It is debatable that it is terminating an
actual pregnancy, but it is fact that you
are terminating/flushing out a fertilized
egg. Either way part of conception has
already happened. I personally, do not
see it as having an abortion by any means,
but the fact of the matter is that this is
happening post sex and is therefore not
"preventing pregnancy" but rather keeping
the fertilized egg from becoming a fetus.
If that made any sense whatsoever.
But, yes, some people do see this as a
form of abortion and are so highly against
it. But, I am not getting into that
one.Lol.

Actual pregnancy does start at
implantation. So it's preventing
pregnancy from happening. Fertilized
eggs fail to implant alot and probably
have happened to you all but it's not
considered a miscarriage because they was
never a pregnancy. Whether or not it is
life at conception is debatable.

When the heart beats one time, it's life.
So if no heart has begun to beat... It's
not homicide. Abortion is homicide. The
map isn't...... Just my opinion.

Yeah I thought it took a few days for the
egg to get to the uterus anyways. I dont
think the morning after is an abortion.
Just my opinion though

I agree. There are supposed to be lots of
times where the egg gets fertilized but
doesn't become implanted anyway. Using a
map is the same thing.

I only think it becomes your form of
"birth control". I mean, once in a
accident or a rape pr something ok.....
But as a form of bc.... All the time is
wrong!

I agree chanda-many people use it because
they haven't be bothered to use any other
form of contraception but then the map can
be dangerous if taken more then 3times in
your life (so I read in a health journal)
because of the strong levels of chemicals
in it

The moral of the story?
Always use birth control (unless you want
a baby, in which case...)
if you need a map because you've had an
accident (accidents do happen) then get it
as soon as possible, so it is most
effective (not very reliable after 3
days)
don't assume map will always get you out
of trouble - its not healthy.
Enjoy and be safe

Lol thats funny. Hmm I dont know how to
think of it. I think its both, its
preventing and terminating. And it
wouldnt have to be used if people were
more responsible and think with the right
head. Unless of course its rape.

I think that map should be available over
the counter everywhere! Because when you
need it, you need it right away, not
whenever its convenient for the doctor to
see you. In canada is available over the
counter, and im grateful for that... I
personally have never had to use it, but I
like knowing that it is there just in
case. One of my friends recently had sex
with this guy, and during the middle of
it, he took the condom off and she didn't
even know until after he had came in her
and he told her. She wasn't on bc either.
She freaked. So the guy made her go get
the map, but I think that he should have
paid for her to get it. And he should
have not been so stupid as to do that, im
sure he knows how kids are made, because
he has 2 or something like that.
**sorry, just thought i'd share my story.
