1 + Hpt And 1 - Hpt Am I Pregnant? Posted: 08-15-04 10:52am
Is it possible to get a false negative
hpt? I took a test on 8-14 (first thing
in the morning) and it came back positive.
The line was faint but it was there. So
this morning I decided to take another one
just to see if the line would be any
darker. The test came back negative. I
am not sure what that means. Any helpful
insight would be appreciated. Maybe it
will keep me sane until I can get in to
the Dr. Thanks!

Hpt's are not always 100%. The best way
to find out is to do a blood test.

I have a friend who took several hpts and
they all came up negative. She also had
a pelvic and had tests done at the clinic.
They all came up negative for the first
three months of her pregnancy. Patty is
right, if you want to know get a blood
test.

Thanks, I just went to the doctor and they
did a urine test, and she said if I don't
start in another week, that he will have a
blood test done. I am really hoping for
another one so please send some baby vibes

I am going through the same thing. I had
the first test I took have a solid line
and one faint line and then he told me to
take another one first thing in the
morning so I did and it was negative? So
I have to go back and have another one
done in a week or so. He said I might
have a eptopic pregnancy?I have not had my
period since june 18th. I hope not
because I really want another baby. Ill

False positives are very slim, most likely

False positives are not very slim they
just don't happen, its not possible to
test for something and get a positive for
something that just isn't there does that
make sense?!?!?

I swear i'm pregnant and i've only had one
positive. We just got our insurance
papers today so soon I will see a docter.
Anyways, i've taken more test than I can
count and out of all of them only one was
positive. However, my stomach has grown
a little this week. I don't know exactly
how far along I am, but I think only 9
weeks. However, I got symptoms really
early. My stomach and boobs have both
grown. In fact someone told me that i'm
already looking pregnant and I haven't had
more than one positive test result. This
might sound stupid, but when I jump around
with my kindergartners my stomach feels a
lot heavier. It's not comfortable at all
to do any kind of jumping or anything. I
could be 12 weeks if I go by symptoms, but
I doubt it. Anyways so to answer your
question I think false negatives are way
more commen than false positives. I'll
find out for sure pretty soon so I let you
know.

Well I did go to the doctor and he said it
was most likely a chemical pregnancy. So
I am definitly not preggy. Bummer, oh
well I guess we will just keep on trying.
It will all happen in good time. I will
definitly send some baby dust your way!!!

This may sound weird but like my husbands
mom (not that shes getting pregnant or
anything) could when she did only go to
the doctors for preggo tests. I guess
theres like a certain percentage of woman
who like have something in their systems
that like make hpt test mess up or always
positive she was joking around with me
saying she'd be postive like when she was
90 haha

Yeah the same thing happened to me..
Except, the first test came out neg and
the next pos.. I went to the doctors and
they did a urine test which revealed
negative.. After 2 weeks, I was still
late so my boyfriend took me to one of
those free health clinics to get testing
done.. They did a urine test, which came
back negative.. So the nurse did some
kind of different urine test, I guess is
more sensitive.. And it came out
positive.. Some girls just dont have
enough of that hormone to show up on a
test. Thats what the problem was in my
case.. I guess the preg hormone
fluctuates
