I Think I Had a Miscarriage Posted: 08-15-04 18:11pm
On june 11 I recieved my first shot of
depo-provera. My doctor assured me that
it would prevent pregnancy and in time
make my periods go away completely. I
had no period in july but towards the end
of that month I started to notice a dark
brown sticky discharge when I would use
the bathroom. I thought it was simply a
side effect of the shot and thought
nothing of it. Then on july 31 I got
what seemed to the the irregular bleeding
side effect of the shot. This irregular
bleeding continued until about august 11th
when it turned into what I thought was a
normal period. However, the color of my
blood throughout this whole ordeal has
been a brighter red than ever before and
from time to time there are clumps of dark
red to black or light red tissue.
Because of what i've read i'm beginning to
think that this unusual period was not
just a side effect of my birth control but
that I was unknowingly pregnant and had a
miscarriage. I'm very confused and
scared about this possibility and so i'm
looking for advice from anyone who has
either used depo-provera or has had a
miscarriage. Thanks.

Did the doctor test to see if you were
pregnant before giving you the shot? They
usually tell you to wait till you start
your period before taking the pill, im not
sure what the do on the shot, but I would
hope it would be the same way, to rule out
you possibly being pregnant. Have you
asked your doctor what all this could
mean? I personally think you may have had
a miscarriage. But I am not a doctor so I
couldnt tell you for sure. You should
maybe go to the doctors and have him
examine you and tell him what happened.?
Sorry im not much help. I wish you luck
and hope you figure out what happened.
