I Just Bought My Accutane
Posted: 08-17-04 14:48pm

I just bought 2 boxes worth of 20mg of the generic brand of accutane with 30 tabs in each box. Cost me a total of $510!!!!

This better work.

I'm going to start my own accutane journal so I can keep track of my progress and keep you guys updated if interested.

Wish me luck!

Hi there, i'm glad you are excited and willing to do something about your acne. I'm definatly interested in how it works out for you. It seems to work for so many others. I do hope you are aware of the potential side effects. I'm sure your doctor would have told you about them. How long is your treatment for?Are you having bloodwork done regularly? Gl. I do hope it works wonders for you!

Well my doctor, (note: doctor, not dermatologist) set me on 20mg tablets, twice daily for one month and then come back to see him. I asked him about bloodwork as seeing that many people on accutane have to do them and my doctor said i'm healthy and it wasn't neccessary. That was kind of odd, I sure hope he's right. Yes I am very aware of the potential side effects affiliated with accutane usage. I did notice something weird at work earlier, I felt dizzy for about 2 seconds. It was crazy. I brushed it off and told myself that it was my mind playing tricks on me. Sure hope it's not a side effect already! I'm gonna get my journal up and i'll give you guys the link to check it out.

Your doctor is kind of crazy if you ask me. The potential side effects of accutane are serious and can cause problems. Yes, you are healthy, but accutane can make you not healthy anymore which is why he/she needs to test you. Grrrr, sometimes I hate doctors.
But anyway, good luck to you and let us know how it goes!

Yeah I would talk to my doctor if I were you and request bloodwork. Yeah it will cost a little more, but it is kind of necessary for a drug like accutane. I do hope the 2 second dizzy spell isn't a side effect already. I doesn't sound like anything i've heard accutane doing. I had that once, although it lasted more than two seconds. Actually it happened twice. The first time I was in the stockroom at work, heading out to the floor all of a sudden the world went out of focus and twisted and I had trouble holding my balance. So I stood still, still feeling a little odd. It lasted about 30seconds to a minute. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. The second time was at work again and I was busy. I work retail and was on the floor heading to tell someone I was going to go on break. Just as it hit me crazy like, about five seconds later a customer stopped me for help. That was really weird. I had trouble understanding her, and listening to her. This one didn't last as long but it had worse timing. Those two were about two months apart. Never had it before, never had it again. I hope it actually never happens again, especially if I am driving or something. Well gl with your accutane treatment. I hope it does you well.

Wow, you were in your stockroom when it happened? That's what happened to me! Cause I work for macy's department stores, specifically for men's shoes. And I remember heading into the stockroom, then my head felt dizzy and blurry. Crazy. Anyways, do you guys want to see some really recent pictures of me, like today? I'm sure eager to see myself a few months later after accutane compared to it.

Maybe you guys have some weird allergic reaction to chemicals in the shoes/clothes. It could very well be! I know even when I go shopping I almost always get dizzy and feel like I am going to throw up.

Hehe I doubt it, I worked there for almost three years and it had not happened before, or since. So I don't know it was actually not long after I began taking doxycyclin. I took it about 4 months and didn't notice any change so I stopped. I found other methods.

Doxycyclin is a type of tetracyclin antibiotic. Thats all. Nothing special.

Hello ungj85. Well I have been on accutane for 3 months. I take one 20mg pill in the morning and one 40mg pill at night. So far I have noticed little improvement. My dermatologist told me that the dose I am one is low. My friends tell me that my face is looking a lot better. I have to get blood work done once a month and a week before my monthly appt. If I don’t have my results in by the time of my next appt they won’t let me see the dermatologist. I find it very strange your doctor didn’t tell you to get blood work done. I agree, if I were you i’d get it done.

Four of my friends have taken accutane and their results are great. They have beautiful skin now with little or no breakouts.

I haven’t had any really bad side affects other then really really dry lips. Has this happened to you yet? I heard that this is really common. I also got really dry skin on my arms and shoulders.

So why does it cost you so much for your pills? That’s outrageous!!!! I pay $30 dollars for both boxes.

Well my insurance does not cover for isotretinoin (accutane). So I have to fork over my own money. Anyways, i'm through a month of taking it and I haven't been breaking out for about a week or so, though the scars are still there. I've been on the other more active forum called www.Acne.Org , there you can find my photo journal updates of my progress. However, the forum there is undergoing construction and I have no clue when it'll be up again.
