I have recently found out through a friend that knew my sis-in-law in her using drugs days that it is very possible that my sis-in-law is hiv positive. There is a child involved and I don't know what to do. If she has it, she obviously hasn't shared it with anyone. I know there's not too much I can do. But having this info now, I wonder if I should confront her or just leave it alone. She has been sick for a long time. She only has one kidney and now is in the hospital with gallbladder problems and faces possible surgery. She has also had significant weight gain and fluid retention in the past few months. I know ive always heard that people with hiv usually lose weight. But i've also heard that at a certain stage of it, a person can actually gain weight. Can you please tell me if these symptoms are in any way related? Thank you so much for your time.

Long term sickness of any kind, can be an indication of a depressed immune system which could mean hiv/aids. If she has full blown aids and the medical problems you mentioned, she will need to be very lucky to ever get out of the hospital.
Pray for her.
I hope she doesn't have hiv/aids.
How long ago was the time that she was an intervenous substance abuser?
