Positive Ana And Antiphospholipid Antibodies
Posted: 08-18-04 13:28pm

I have recently been diagnosed with positive ana and antiphospholipid antibodies only after several miscarriages. I had a normal pregnancy and delivered in 99 with only mild complications-- now I can't seem to carry a pregnancy past 6-8 weeks and have had a total of 4 losses. My doctors put me on baby asparin and heparin injections with the last pregnancy, but still I had complications. I have not tested positive for lupus. Only one of the tests comes back mildly abnormal. Anyone else with this that can give me some insight and hope for another child?

Thanks,
lisa

There Are Several Docs Working On This

Dr. Beer and Dr. Matzner are both working on the correlation between the phospholipids and pregnancy loss.

You might check out http://www.Repromed.Net and
http://www.Rialab.Com/

there are also a number of articles on the nciid website at:

i also tested positive for several phospholipid antibodies and have a positive ana. I'm still investigating options with my doctors.

There's a message board over on yahoo filled with ladies in similar situations to yours. I'm sure they'd be very helpful to you: http://h ealth.Groups.Yahoo.Com/group/immunologysup port/

thanks for the information laura. I hope that it is helpful in my quest for answers. You stated you had recently been tested to have the same thing, did they test you also due to miscarriage?

Please keep me updated as to what your doctor finds... I hope to discuss similar cases with my Dr. As well.

Thanks again!

I have had three chemical pregnancies now -- the last one confirmed after my iui in june.

I'm now going through additional testing for lupus... Confused
