I need ur help.. Since lots of other
people ask you about computer problems
their having, I figured i'd do the same.
Ok, all of a sudden this tool bar popped
up on the bottom of my screen. And it
won't let me close out of it. Its a pain
in the butt! Its a hidden file somewhere
but I can't find it to get rid of it.
When I went to the properties on the
toolbar it showed me this url: http://img.Lop.Com/
images/toolbarnew/_r1.Gif (((don't go
there!!!!)))
so I went there, and there wasn't anything
on it except a little 'x'....
Where do you think I should look for this
file that automatically got downloaded to
my computer??
Thanks

Ok..Now the url has changed.. Its now: http://searchweb2
.Com/passthrough/newpass.Html
(((don't go there!!!)))
i know from experience that searchweb2.Com
is a homepage hijacker.. And I have yet
to figure out how to get rid of it. I
have ad-aware and spybot search and
destroy.. And nothing works! If you
could help at all that would be awesome!!!

Have you tried control panel >
ad/remove programs and looked for
there? Also you need to purge spybot and
ad-aware as they only quarrantine first
time round, not actually remove (i learnt
that the long way round).

Ya I have gone into add & remove
programs, there is nothing there that
shouldn't be. But when I started my
computer up today that toolbar didn't pop
up this time.. So thats good! Hopefully
it'll stay that way because it took up
half my screen.. And it wouldn't move for
anything! Thanks anyways.

Also, press ctrl alt delete at the same
time and then click "task manager" and
look through there and see if you see
anything that looks like what that thing
might be. Then you can find that file on
your comptuer and delete it.

Easy solution.
Download no-ads, if you're on a pc, or the
equivilant if you're on a mac or something
else.
No-ads has a dialoge window that will
display the url, or the web address of
this little browser application and you
will be able to block it then.
This sounds like a pop-up ad to me, and
no-ads will make it go away.

Yeah do that. If there's nothing in the
task manager, it sounds like its running
inside an internet explorer window, which
would make it a pop up. Does it look like
internet explorer?

It only shows up when I go into internet
explorer....And when I 'x' out of explorer
its still there...I can't make it go away.
The no-ads thing didn't work. Im not
sure if you go to this site ( http://searchweb2
.Com/passthrough/newpass.Html ) if it
will make your computer do the same...
But if you want to go there all it has on
it is what this stupid thing looks like on
the bottom of my screen. I dunno.

Try pressing ctrl and f4 all at the same
time when that window is selected. That
should make it go away.

I can't select it because its not a
window... You would think that if it was
a pop-up that it would go away when I
closed internet explorer, but it doesn't..
It sticks down at the bottom of my screen
all the time now. Ok, in task manager
these are all the things that are running
under processes... I don't know what they
all mean, so I don't want to end it and
risk screwing something up.
Taskmgr.Exe
msnmsgr.Exe
svchost.Exe
lexpps.Exe
spoolsv.Exe
lexbces.Exe
noads.Exe
iexplore.Exe
svchost.Exe
winka.Exe
winupdt.Exe
lxbbbmon.Exe
msgplus.Exe
svchost.Exe
navapw32.Exe
lxbbbmgr.Exe
svchost.Exe
lsass.Exe
services.Exe
winlogon.Exe
csrss.Exe
explorer.Exe
smss.Exe
navapsvc.Exe
alg.Exe
system
system idle process
now I don't know if I wasted my time
typing all those out...But whatever.

Winka.Exe
winupdt.Exe
these are viruses. You need to kill the
processes and delete the files off your
computer.

I went to delete winka.Exe and a window
came up saying:
cannot delete winka:access denied
make sure the disk is not full or write
protected and that the file is not
currently in use.
???????????????????????????????Eh?
Same window came up for the winupdt.Exe
thing....

Ok thanks erin... I got rid of it... Now
whether that got rid of the toolbar im not
sure because I figured out a new way to
open explorer so that it doesn't pop up.
But one last question, when im in
add&remove programs there are about
20+ programs that say "windows xp hotfix"
then a whole bunch of letters and numbers
after that that make no sense to me.. Are
these supposed to be in there? Or can I
get rid of them? Thanks a bunch!
