I was wondering what the follow-up
procedures were after a kidney transplant.
Are follow-up visits a lifelong thing
and if so what do they entail? Would the
transplant patient be able to drive home
on their own after the lab work?

Hi, it all depends on how you are doing.
When I had my transplant I felt great and
started exercising the day I was released
from the hospital following my transplant.
It really depends on how you do
following your transplant, and that is
different for everyone. I started
driving about a week after my release from
the hospital, and was taking myself to get
the labs done. I am just a little past a
year since transplant and I only go for
labs once a month now. I will stay at
that until I hit my three year mark, and
after that I go to every three months as
long as there are not any complications.
