Hey girls,
ok, I was on paxil for 2 years after
tiffaney's death, but paxil over a long
peroid of time causes weight gain and I
sure as hell don't need that.
So I was then switched to prozac....Which
did nothign for me. Paxil was awesome!
So now, I am on zoloft. Have any of you
been on it? Any wierd side effects? I
took it today for the first time and I am
like.... Speeding.... It's making me
hyper and I took it at like 9 this morning
and it's 8 at night! But I am still
hyper.
Anyway, just wanted to see if any of you
had taken it!
Love,
chanda

I have taken it before, at 50 mgs. I
was on that and risperdal and I really
think that they made me feel less shy but
I got off them.

Chanda, I was on a trila of zoloft, when I
was 18, but the side effects were too
intense for me ( couldnt sleep, couldnt
eat, couldnt stop shaking) , so I was
switched to paxil which gave me a similar
reaction...In the end, they ended up
puttin gme on lithium for a few months,
which turned me into a zombie, so I
stopeed taking all meds.....I began to
appreciate having a lcear mind, after the
fogginess of psychiatric meds!! But every
person, every brain is different. I would
say that if u still feel the intense side
effects after 1 week, then say somethign
to your doctor. The body needs time to
adjust to new medications.

I have tried zoloft and had magor side
effects--- I couldnt sleep I always felt
sick and had very scary thoughts--
thoughts that I would have never have
before so I stopped taking it and now I
feel better than I have even better than
when I was on paxil----- but remember
everyone is different.
Anxiety/depression. I've been on paxil,
then prozac, and now this for over 4 years
now.

One I Can Answer! Posted: 08-24-04 02:10am
Don't freakin do it!Lol. No, everyone
will have different effects.
I was on paxil for about six months. I
quit taking it (and getting off of it and
zoloft really, really sucks) paxil made me
feel nervous which defeated the purpose of
taking it, and it gave me terrible dreams.
I mean horrible awful dreams.
About six months after I quit taking paxil
I "crashed" again and started to take
zoloft. I took it for four years and am
in the process of going through the
withdrawal (because I am quitting it). I
was so disgustingly responsible before I
started taking it. I owned my trailer at
age 19, had a great freakin job, never
ever paid a single bill late, etc. When
I started taking zoloft, I quit my job,
quit cleaning, stopped paying my bills and
just quit freakin caring. I have gained
40 pounds, became an alcoholic to (self
medicate) started smoking again and have
no motivation whatsoever. It sounds
obvious that I should have just quit
taking zoloft a long freakin time ago
right? Yeah, well, I never put two and
two together, therefore wasting four years
of my life.
Granted I was not "depressed" in the sense
that I was sad. I mean, I used to cry
myself to sleep every single night. On
zoloft I was not sad. But, I slept all
day, drank beer every single day, smoked
like a chimney, didn't want to do
anything, etc. So, which would you
rather do, feel sad, or give up your life?
I personally would rather feel really
sad.(for lack of a better explanation)
anywho, I quit taking it about eight days
ago (i gradually decreased my dosage
because you really cannot just stop taking
this kind of drug) and honestly as soon as
it started to get out of my system
everything changed. Of course, I am very
irritable, grouchy, cry for no reason (but
keep in mind I have maybe cried twice in
the last four years as zoloft made it
impossible for me to cry) and I am so
dizzy and sick! But I am me!
I have motivation. I quit smoking and
drinking. I registered for school. I
am looking for a job/apartment. I am
me!!!!!!!!!!!I am so happy! Of course I
still feel like a fat cow and it will
probably take me a heck of a lot of time
and work to lose this weight, but hey, for
once I won't take for granted being small!
I used to think I was fat when I weighed
108, but I would give so much to be that
small again!
Anyway, sorry to ramble, but my advice is
this. Give it a shot, because it really
can work for you. It has less side
effects than paxil, or at least everyone I
know who has been on both has had less
problems with zoloft.
But, be careful and pay attention! I
wasted four years of my life because my
doctor did not monitor me, and I had no
idea that zoloft could/was causing me to
me so lazy. I honestly thought I was
just a piece of crap who wouldn't get off
of my arse! I blamed me this whole time
and just made everything
worse!!!!!!Grrrrrr!
Hope I helped a little! Sorry for
rambling!
I read it. But I need something huni! I
dunno.
Love,
chanda

Good luck with it hun. If you just pay
close attention everything will be just
fine and you will know if you need to
switch meds or not. I just didn't put
two and two together and wasted my time.
But, you will do just fine.
