Can anyone tell me how long someone stays
on a ventilator with botulism. I realize
that it would vary, but my family member
is a little past six weeks and we're
hopeful he'll start breathing soon. He
has breathed on his own about 4 hours a
couple of weeks ago but has only had short
stints since then. The doctor said he was
not really familiar with botulism when I
asked him. Is there a particular way in
which to wean someone from a vent? Any
information is greatly appreciated.
