Carotid Artery Surgery Posted: 11-08-04 15:12pm
After surgery, my husband's voice was very
raspy and just above a whisper. The dr
said this would pass in a couple of days,
that it was because of the breathing tube.
It's been 2 weeks and his voice has
still not come back. He saw a specialist
today, so told him his voice might come
back in 2 months, or it it could be 10
months, but that they don't consider
surgery to repair vocal chords until a
year after surgery. Have you ever heard
of this? Thank you for your time.

I have heard of people that have had
caritod bypass and have weakness in their
voice. It could be caused by the
breathing tube or injury to the superior
larygneal nerve. That is my understanding
of the causes I hope this helps you.
Please feel free to ask any other
questions. I sorry I don't get a lot of
time to write back but I will write back
as soon as I can thank you.
