i was at the hospital for 7 hours on
monday. I have a killer sinus infection
and I was very dizzy and incoherent. When
I finally saw the doctor he told me I was
dizzy and incoherent because of my sinuses
and gave me a script for cipro. I started
them on monday night and by tuesday I was
breaking out in hives. I have stopped
taking them but i'm afraid thats it's
causing a flare. I guess i'll go back to
the hospital.
My question is has anyone ever had a
reaction to there meds? The doctor
prescribed a medication that causes sun
sensitivity, muscle weakness, headaches
etc... To a person with lupus. It seemed
like the kind of drug that would cause
drug induced lupus. I'm mad because my
fever was so high that I accepted what he
said and took the prescription and went
home. I feel like I can never rely on
doctors and have to be one step ahead of
them even when i'm really sick.
Thats for listening to me vent!!
Cheers,
jenn

I have never reacted that way to cipro
(goodness knows I was given it in college
everytime my urine showed protein...Ugh!).
I did, however, react to some sulfa drugs
that way...Rashes, achy joints...Etc. Of
course, they did not know I had lupus
then. I have since found out that sulfa
based items are not always good things for
some lupus patients.
I would call my doctor, jenn. It sounds
like you need something else...Or to make
sure the sinus infection's stress on your
body has not caused you to start flaring!
Hugs and feel better,

Hi ladybrannon,
i would call my doc but he's out of town
till monday. I guess i'll have to go back
to emergency. I hope it doesn't take
another 7 hours because last time my back
got really bad from sitting around. I
need another antibiotic before this sinus
infection spreads to my lungs.
