I
have noticed some small bumps just below
my pubic area. I think I have always had
them but they seem to be spreading. I
have regular check ups at my local free
clinic as I am very paranoid about
spreading std's. The bumps are lighter
than the surrounding area, almost white
and are making there way around my vagina
and towards my clitoris. I am sure that
they have been there for a while and was
wondering how after having two babies and
countless paps and screening how they
could be missed.
I have an appointment next week but I
really wanted an idea of what I was
facing. They are not painful, I have read
that there are different forms of hpv,
does that mean that genital warts wouldn't
show up in a pap because I don't have the
type that causes cell changes? They do
look a little like blisters but they are
not herpes and feel kind of spikey to
touch. Mostly they cannot be seen unless
the skin is stretched in the affected
area. my
biggest question is would genital warts
show up in a pap smear?
could the bumps be something else and if
so what?
where are the most common places for warts
to appear on a female?
I know that symptoms are different for
everyone but I just want some information
that could put me at ease.
please
answer soon as I am wanting to start a
relationship with a guy I met but if I
have hpv I don't think I would be ready to
tell someone yet.

Sounds allot like hpv. It can lay dormant
for years. I have also read that
something like 90% of women have the virus
but most never have a flair-up. A pap
will not always show an hpv infection but
I think that is rare. Even if an abnormal
pap does show up, it is not the end of the
world because as long as you keep an eye
on it, cervical cancer is very
controllable and if found early, the
success rate is something like 90-95%.
Make sure your obgyn is aware of
everything and always look for a second
opinion. I hope this helps some.

Thanks for the reply, I am still a bit
doubtful that it is hpv as I tried
applying vinegar to the affected area, I
read that this changes the appearance of
the bumps turning them white. Also the
fact that I have had bumps in the area for
quite a while. I once asked a doctor to
check them out and he didn't say a thing
about hpv, he checked for herpes and the
test was negative.
I will post my results after I see the
doctor next week in case someone has a
similar problem and needs help. Wish me
luck and if anyone has any ideas on other
conditions with similar symptoms please
let me know.

Another thing I wasn't sure about was some
of the information I have read on hpv.
Some sites say the bumps are hard some say
soft and moist. Mine are hard and look
something like pimples. Is it possible to
just have bumps that dont actually mean
anything at all?

Do you shave? Cause if you do it could
just be from that.
If you have had them for a while and they
were something to worry about it, then I
am sure your gyno would have said
something.

Good news, went to the clinic today and
apparantly the bumps are normal. Just
thought I should let you all know.
