How do your taxes work? Mike and I were
talking about income tax and I said that
other non-us countries had higher income
taxes than us, and he was saying that is
democratic propoganda used to make
republicans look bad.
So what are your taxes like for the
following things?
Income tax = different percentage for each
income bracket, but those in the
$20,000-$40,000 can expect to pay around
15% depending on exemptions.
Sales tax = its different for each county,
but most county's sales tax is between
6-10%.
Postal tax (in the form of stamps) =
postcards are $0.29 and letters are
$0.37.
Alcohol tax = different in every state, in
alabama, its $0.53 per gallon, or about
$0.30 per six pack of beer.
Tobacco tax = varies very widely per
state. In alabama, its hardly anything,
$0.04 - $0.20. In other states, its as
high as 129%.

Yeah, me too!! I know that cigarettes are
$7 a pack.... I dont know why I know
that, I dont smoke, but thats how much
they cost!!

Washington state is the state that has
129% tax on tobacco... That means if a
manufacturer charges $4 a pack, you'll
actually pay over 9 bucks!

Im in canada and smokes here cost 11.50
lol!
As for alochol... (well I havent drank
since I found out I was preggo so I think
prices have gone up a bit).. But a 24 of
beer used to be about 32 dollars (prolyl
about 34 now) and ranging from different
types... It goes higher lol!

I live in washington state most smokes are
about 5.79+tax in the bigger cities but in
the small town im in it is about 3.99 per
pack. Dahlia and baby surprise.

Brand name cigs here are like almost $5.00
a pack. I met a guy from canada at the
bar a couple of months ago and the
cigarettes he was smoking were like $9 a
pack or something. He said it is because
canadians have automatic healthcare
through their government and when people
smoke it raises healthcare costs.
Therefore the charge for smokes. It
makes sense though! I wish we had
automatic healthcare here!
The income tax is just straight f.I.C.A
right? Not including social security,
medicare, etc? Local state....All that
happy crappy. Oh the joys of taxes!

some crazy ass cigs for 0.88 a pack!Lol,

bad!

Holy crap! Some of you got some expensive
cigs! Lol here if you go to onieda (an
indian reservation not too far away from
me) you can get brand name cigs for around
2.99, no tax. Otherwise they are around
3.19-3.50 a pack... Depending on what gas
station you buy them from. For awhile
last year (or the year before), they got
up to 4.50 a pack, which is really
expensive for here lol.
