to Go Or Not to Go to a Treament Center Posted: 09-05-04 21:11pm
Hi, I would love an opinion from somebody.
My shrink wants me to go to this dern
eating disorders outpatient program.
Anyway, I am 5'4, 135 lbs and I sort-of do
anorexic and bulimic type of stuff. Here
is my problem w/ this program he is
proposing:
a) again, it would be b/c he is suggesting
it, not b/c I want help. If I go there
and don't eat, which I won't, they will
remove me from the program. Then what?
B) I fail to see, at my weight, why it's
necessary. He said it's my choice. Okay,
so I choose not to go. Well, isn't
therapy the same thing?
C) I had trouble even driving to the
interview b/c I felt so dizzy, sick, etc.
But I would be committing myself to 3
weeks of driving an hour each way per day
in heavy highway traffic. Pretty
dangerous, isn't it? The shrink says it's
b/c I don't eat right and I take pills.
Well, if I could stop that, I wouldn't
need the treament!!!
I say I should keep losing weight and see
if I want to go after that. Or see if
work gets adamant about it. Why go to
treatment if my heart isn't in it and if I
also feel I may not be able to drive
there?
Opinions, anybody? I have no desire to
"get better."
