a Quick Question...

Ok.. I don't know if u guys remember me talking about my one friend who was pregnant and might still be doing drugs awhile ago? Well anyways I got a hold of her and I found out that she is still smoking pot....But she says that its to keep her blood pressure down. Poor excuse I know, but what I wanna know is what effects both long and short term if any this could have on the baby. Thanks girls.

Ok lol for one thing, smoking pot makes your blood pressure rise... So you should let her know that. Ok the long term and short term effects are (depending on how much you smoke, making it more severe): possible to develope add, or adhd, developes motor skills slower as a baby, colic, startles easily, eyes dont adjust to light right for the first couple weeks, and then pretty much anything else that smoking cigarettes can cause (like preterm baby, miscarrige, low birthweight, etc...). I know alot (i mean alot, and yes I know its sad) of people that smoked pot with while pregnant, and their kids turned out just fine, were happy smart babies, and they grew up with no problems(in fact I dont know anyone that has had problems with their children that have been linked to them smoking pot). Nobody really knows the true effects of pot on a baby, but these are some of the things that are believed. Some believe it doesnt even harm the baby... It all depends on how much, and how often you smoke.

Thanks. I told her that she has to quit that, because its doing nothing good for her baby. And that the excuse of it keeping her blood pressure down is a poor excuse. She is also smoking (cigs) too.. She says not as many as she used to, but a couple a day. Usually she is a very smart, responsible person.. Someone who I couldn't see doing something like this, especially to something growing inside her. I know that if she lived here (in canada) she wouldn't be doing that because I would make sure she didn't. But because shes in england, I can't really do anything to force her to stop.
