Friend With Fast Progression Posted: 09-08-04 19:46pm
I have a friend recently diagnosed with
hiv. He has been in the hospital now for
a couple of months with chronic diarrhea.
He is so weak he spends 95% of the time
in bed. he tested
negative just early this year but we
cannot understand how it is progressing so
fast.
He is only in his late 20s and used to be
in great shape. The doctors keep saying
he's got his youth to count on and battle
this but he lost 30+ pounds since. He is
so weak he could hardly talk.
I am not family to ask the hard questions
with the doctor, nor I could bring myself
to ask his family. Will the diarrhea
ever stop? Or should the family consider
home care and at least have him in a more
comfortable environment?

What treatment was your friend on? I
fear the treatment regiment at most
hospitals is quite dangerous in and of
itself.
