Does anyone know what I can do to get rid
or it or just make it less painful?

My doc said the _only_ things you can take
while pregnant are tums and pepcid ac.
Pepcid ac takes too long to kick in, so I
take tums. I just ordered some liquid
calcium carbonate (the active ingredient
in tums) because I can't chew up the tums
anymore. I have eaten so many they make
me sick!!

Do you like milk? Its real basic so it
balances the acid! It might help some!
And i've heard bread works?

Chemically speaking, milk neutralizes over
time, so its not always the best choice.
Most of the time it is ok though.
Antacids like tums are much stronger, so
if you want something fast, i've found
milk isn't always effective. But yeah
like lauren says, putting anything in your
stomach will help.

Heart burn is caused in pregnancy by your
pregnancy hormone relaxing the valve
between the stomach and the oesophagus,
thus allowing nasty somach acid to seep up
and burn.
Small meals helps, you will find that the
longer you go without eating the worse the
hearburn can/will get.

Thanks for the background! I never knew
that. I guess it also doesn't help that
your stomach is being squeezed and pushed
up by your ever-expanding uterus.

Yes it can! Well, I dont' know about
permanent, but at least it can cause
damage that takes awhile to heal. Its the
same thing acid reflux causes, since acid
reflux is essentially chronic heartburn.
It causes erosion of the esophagus.

so bad we thought I had an ulcer! =( I
hope you feel better sweetie! I used to
take tums but they only used to help for
like 10 min at a time
