Why do doctor's say you can go 2-week's before your due date or after? Also what does your hcg level tell or mean? :d

Because it is easy to know when your last period was rather than when you conceived, doctors will take your due date from there instead.
So when you are 10 weeks gestation (age of baby) you are technically 12 weeks pregnant.
Docs count 40 weeks from last period but becasue of how they work out due date, giving birth anywhere between 38 and 42 weeks is normal.
Your hcg levels is the amount of pregnancy hormone ou have in your blood stream.

My doctor told me they didnt go by your last period anymore, they just go by the ultrasound scan. He also told me that the scans are very accurate at least to the week to determine the edd. Only the early scans though the ones done during the first trimester and they measure the crown rump length.

Yup, they say these scans are very accurate, but old habits die hard, and many doctors for years to come will first ask then calculate from the first day of your last period. Wink

So I guess it just depends on what doctor you go to

Should work out approx the same whichever way.
If I go by the date of my last period I would be due 25th march, but by my scans I am due 28th march, not much in it either way really.
Given that most women ovulate around 14 days before their period and that an egg needs to be fertilised within 24-48hours, and that pregnancy is approx 40weeks from last period, then they should work out around about the same anyway Wink
