Lasik Eye Surgery Posted: 09-11-04 21:37pm
I would like to get laser eye surgery but
I am getting conflicted answers to my
questions about how to time it.
I am currently nursing my 8 month old and
will be trying to get pregnant again this
spring. I was told that both nursing and
pregnancy can adversely affect the outcome
of surgery by two docters while one told
me that it would not matter. I am
confused and do not want to take a risk
with my eyes. Has anyone had the surgery
while still nursing or gotten pregnant
right after the surgery annd did it change
you results?

Lasik (edited to remove link) was the best
thing I've ever done for myself. I am a
mother of a 3 year old and a 1 year old
and that means a lot of waking up in the
middle of the night. This translated to
sleeping in my contacts so that I could
see what I was doing when I had to check
on my kids; after 20 years, it was
starting to take a toll on the health of
my eyes. Dr. Wiles is so informative and
has such a calm demeanor; he put me at
ease even though I was nervous about the
procedure. He went through all of the
steps involved in the treatment so that I
knew exactly what to expect. I appreciate
everything he has done to make my vision
what it is today. I can now see 20/20 with
no help."

Lasik during pregnancy Posted: 01-27-08 16:05pm
Due to changes in hormones during nursing
and pregnancy the circulation in a woman's
body can change. This can result in
changes to the vitreous humor, a
gelatinous substance between the lens and
the retina of the eye. This would effect
the outcome of lasik eye surgery. Listen
to your doctors. They don't want to do the
procedure if the outcome won't be good.
Try to wait it out.
