We order them online...They're pretty
expensive.
Except for the paints, for the original
skin color I use oil paints. And then
later for final touches I use acrylics.
I use mohair(fine sheep hair) and root 2-3
hairs at a time actually in to the dolls
head so its looks as if its growing out of
the head. And give it a soft body.
They weigh between 5 and 7 pounds and are
about 17-18 inches long when finished.

Lol - thats funny. Y'all asked at the
same time.
Well, I normally charge $200.
Which when it comes down to it is actually
pretty cheap for these things. One doll
sold the other day for $1,675. So
yeah...
$100 for supplies
$35 for an outfit and blanket
$65 for me - or what is also considered
labor.

It depends on the doll...
For a vinyl one, which are the ones that I
sell at a fixed price. A few
days...Unless i'm really into then I can
finish in one day.
But I have a few silicon ones i'm working
on right now (they feel extremely real)
that I sell on ebay. And those take
weeks or even months. Just painting one
limb takes all day...
And no, I wish I could make my living off
of this but I dont really have any way of
advertising. But I do make some good
spending cash when I sell them. Which I
have sold several to the ladies at my
little brothers gym (gymnastics) for their
daughters.

No, but if you wanna look at some of the
incredible stuff people do. Search for
either "reborn" or "sheila michael"
if you search reborn you'll get all kinds
of dolls that people have "reborn" and
made look wonderful and if you search
sheila michael you will get a few that
have been and also a few that havent.

i completely missed your post...But I
would make one for you if you'd like.
I have all kinds of faces you can choose
from. And I can even paint the skin
and whatnot to match her when she was a
baby if you send me a pic.
Me and my sister have been collectors for
a very long time. We have so many
different types of dolls. And my sister
was searching ebay one day and came across
the reborn dolls and started looking into
it more indepthly. She found someone
who teaches you how to make them and it
just went from there. And also, my
grandmother used to make porcelain dolls
so thats what peaked our curiosity into
the subject.
