Mri of R Knee Results..?????? What Does It Mean? Posted: 09-19-04 13:41pm
**findings**
there is no reactive marrow significant
intensity to the medial and lateral
femoral condyle. Incidental bone island
is noted in the lateral femoral condyle.
The medial collateral ligament, lateral
collateral ligaments are intact. There
is no patellofemoral joint space
narrowing. The quadriceps tendon and
patella tendon are intact. Posterior
cruciate ligament and anterior cruciate
ligament are intact. The anterior and
posterior horns of the lateral meniscus
demonstrate central t2 hyperintense
signal. This does not extend to the
articular surface as it relates to the
lateral menisci, and there is focal
extension to just near the the surface of
the inferior articular surface, thus focal
fraying cannot be excluded. There is no
bake's cyst. There is mild suprapatellar
bursa effusion. There is minimal
hyperintense signal involving the medial
facet of the patella, representative of
chondromalacia. On further review, there
is focal area of subchondral marrow signal
intensity, medial tibial pleateau,
suggesting area of focal bone contusion.
**impression**
1. Fraying, inferior articular surface,
posterior horn of the medial meniscus.
2. Chondromalacia, medial facet of the
patella.
3. Focal bone contusion, subchondral
marrow, medial tibial plateau.
These are the results of the mri of my
right knee. I was in a severe car
accident in nov. '03 and have had
increasing pain in my right knee since
that time. P.T. Has not helped nor has
injections into the site (cortizone). I
have tried to research in the internet
what all of this means, and have been
rather unsuccessful. If you know what
this means ....Surgery, medication, rest,
what do I need to do to make it stop
hurting and what does all this mean???
Thank you angeleah hazeri
