Diabetes Medications Posted: 09-19-04 13:59pm
Ok, i've been out of work for over a year,
cobra was out of the question as I could
not come up with the $350/month they
wanted, and I have been off the large
battery of medications I was taking for
most of the previous years. Going to the
county health department was no bargain
either, as they prescribed the same stuff,
and I would have to pay the retail price
for metformin ($1.00 a pill), and other
medications.
At church today, a guy who also has
diabetes and is in the health billing
industry tells me that there are programs
with the various medication manufacturers
to subsidize the cost of medications. I
am unfamiliar with any of this, and what
little I know about such programs, they
take 90-120 days to kick in. I know of no
one who wants to forecast destitution 120
days in the future, and find little help
in such adivse.
Can anyone advise me on what I should be
looking for? The neuropathy in my fingers
tingles all day long, and in the toes at
night. Losing almost 20% of my body
weight in the past year has helped a tad,
but we all know what is developing within.

Hi there! Sorry to hear about your
situation! You might try to contact the
american diabetes association, they should
be able to help you, or at least lead you
in the right direction.
Good luck!
Sincerely,
sandy
