Help Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 10-03-03 23:56pm
Hello everone
i'm new here, I have posted on every
dental message board that I can find, I
have looked for dental chat rooms but
haven't been able to find any. A while
ago, I whitened my teeth with whitening
trays, I don't know why but, it made my
front teeth feel as if they were moving
(and I don't mean when they have braces on
them) so, I would push on them to see if
something was wrong. Now, I can't get
myself to stop!!!!
Last time I went to the dentist they took
an x-ray, I was told that the bone &
root are both fine but, if I continued
that I could damage the root. As I said
earlier in this post, I have tried
everything I can think of to try to get
myself to stop, including wearing my (top)
retainer and keeping my hands busy, I am
so scared of losing teeth (even one)! I
have also tried just keeping my hands away
from my teeth but that hasn't seemed to
work either! I had braces when I was
younger and I don't want to ruin the work
we did not to mention, the root of my
tooth so, if any of you knows anyway I can
stop for good
please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell me.

Dear daughter,
i don't know that your problem is dental,
it sounds as though it is more obsessive
compulsive disorder. The fact that you
have no control over pulling at your teeth
and no matter what you have tried you just
can't stop. There are other health forums
that deal more in mental health issues.
