Copd,secondary to Asthma,sleep Apnea,and Restless Legs

Well, now I have been told that I have sleep apnea, with 18 epidodes an hour of not breathing. I also have restless legs, this all came about the following week after learning I have copd. My ox level was down to 77% at night, and prompted them to do the sleep apnea test.
I wonder if they are connected. I am on oxygen, and now, have to wear this mask, called cpap, that fits over my nose, and pushes air into lungs. All this started with uncontrollable asthma.,i thought. Husband said I snored and kicked him all the time, symptoms of sleep apnea. I recommend anyone that has problems with copd,to make sure they dont have sleep apnea, too. I can remember having problems starting the same time about 8 years ago, after developing brochitis(chronic bronchitis what I have),and my maxillary sinus staying blocked.

Hi

sleep apnea is not related to emphysema. These are separate problems. You are getting oxygen for your emphysema, and the cpap for the sleep apnea. Think of sleep apnea as an obstruction, the tissues around your throat obstruct the passage of air when you sleep. Emphysema is caused by smoking most of the times, and the lungs become damaged.

Not Emphysema.an Obstructive Lung Disease, obstructive Airway

I was told I have chronic bronchitis, and severe asthma, copd secondary. I have sleep apnea, which is obstructive airway. Copd is obstructive lung disease, not getting air out. I also have a block sinus. I do not have emphysema. My lungs are functioning a third of what they should be. Crying

Copd, is chronic bronchitis, and asthma, they all fall under copd. There is no such thing as copd secondary.

I also have it, and have been tested for apnea, my ox levels are very good right now so I dont need the ox anymore, but I am on inhalers and other medications.

I also have restless leg syndrome....Which is basically caused becuase you are not getting the circulation you need to your legs because of the copd.

If you smoke, that will cause the circulation to worsen...I of course still smoke Rolling Eyes , I did quit when I first came out of the hospital, and I was doing great, sleeping at night, my legs werent as bad as they usually are, I hadnt felt that good in a long time.

Yes, im trying to quit smoking again...My pulmonary dr has given me several things to help me quit smoking because of the fact that I have copd, and emphysema.

I hope this helps some.
