Control Over When I Get My Period With the Pill?!
Posted: 09-27-04 09:09am

I stopped taking my pill for a month because I was experiencing irregular bleeding. I wanted to start it up again after I got my next regular period, but I was traveling for work and got back on a tuesday, at the end of my period, and didn't know if I could still start it that day, being not a sunday and not the first day of my period. Here I am half way through my next cycle, without the pill this month again, but I do not want my period to come on my vacation in two weeks and I think it is going to! Does anyone know if I can start taking the pill, say next week, if it will work in stopping my period from coming???

You can if you wish forget about the 7 days off and start a new pack as soon as the old pack is finished. Exp.You finish the reg. Pills on sunday and are to start your sugar pills or none and have the seven days off, instead on monday start a new pack. You might get some light bleeding but will not be a regular period. You can safely do this for 2 to 3 packs in a row. I would do it in the summer and not have one at all.

Did you know there is a higher risk of ovarian cancer if you do that?

i have never heard that .Just wondering where you got that info? The pill creates a psuedo pregnancy making your body beleive it is pregnant therefore not releasing eggs. So how can missing a period cause cancer in your ovaries. I have friends on depo and have not had a period for years Question

Well I herd that putting your body though that much progesterone for numerous years (when your body is obviously not meant to do so). "can" being the operative word here, lead to complications such as loss of fertility and in rare cases cancers. It's the same kind of thing with bottle feeding instead of breast feeding. People that don't use their body like they are meant to and have unbalanced chemical levels (like progesterone) are more likely to get cancers than those who don't interfere.

You can get cancerous organs from the wrong use just as you can with no use. Did it ever occur to you that your body is used to and genetically programed to release eggs once a month? And that stopping this from occurring may have implications on those organs and they way they might work in the future?

There is a new birth control pill available in the u.S. Called seasonale. It suppresses your period for three months so you only get 4 periods a year.It has been proven safe and many female gyn's have been doing this on their own for years with no ill effects. If you suppress your period occasionally,i don't think that's a problem. You just need to remember that you have done so and not freak out because you did not get your period this month.Patty
