Well, first of all calm down because if
you get this stressed out, it will cause
your next period to delay which will make
you think you're pregnant when you aren't.
You definately are at risk for getting
pregnant because it takes one month of
pills for the birth control to be in full
effect. I would suggest staying calm.
The rule of thumb is not to freak out
until you've actually missed a period.
So, just wait and if your period comes on
time, then you'll know.
Just take this and use it as a tool for
learning. Even on birth control, you'll
want to use protection because even birth
control by itself is not 100% effective.
Also, it doesn't protect you from std's.
It is always wise to protect yourself if
you know you're not ready for a baby. You
may have gotten lucky this time, so don't
worry about it until you miss a period.
If you miss a period, go to your local
planned parenthood for their tests and
you'll know. You'll be fine.. Make sure
and keep us updated!!!

How Affective Is the Pill ? Posted: 10-06-03 01:47am
Dear butterfly,
birth control pills are usually 97 - 99.9%
affective in preventing pregnancy. It
really depends on the type of pill you are
taking, how strong it is, and how your
particular body reacts to it's affects.
So you would obviously be very unlucky to
be one of the few percent that do fall
pregnant while taking the pill, but it
does happen. The fact that you have been
taking your birth control pills for 3
months, you should be covered, so don't
panic, you have made a very intelligent
decision to protect yourself from an
unwanted pregnancy, just remember though,
the pill doesn't protect you from stds, so
using condoms would be wise.
Regards,

I think she said she's only been using it
for three weeks. that does make a
difference, right?

Ahh sorry farah, thankyou for pointing
that out, lol. Yes she is protected after
3 weeks. Actually 2 weeks is fine, so 3
weeks should be great. Goodness me, I
need to recheck the posts before I answer
I think, lol.
