White Balls In My Stool
Posted: 09-30-04 12:25pm

Sometimes about once a month for 3-5 days, when I go to the bathroom.. I have very small stools.. The size of an almond kind of.. During this time.. There are small white balls floating in the toilet.. Sometimes it even feels like ive passed a stool.. And I have not. Just these very small white balls. They are the size of the candy nerds usually. They look like they are soft and squishing. I do not have anal sex.. Which was suggested to me before, why I have them. I am affraid to go to the doctor to ask about this. Is it common? Does anyone have any information on this type of situation?

I experienced something similar some time ago, sherawks. I wouldn't jump to this conclusion just yet, but there's a possibility you could have an intestinal parasite. Don't worry just yet - the parasite won't grow and burst out of your intestine. It's a more or less harmless little bug called giardia lamblia, and it comes from...Well...From living normally.

You can get it from slight impurities in drinking water, or from not washing your hands well enough. The main cause of this parasite is from fecal matter coming in contact with your mouth, which is why it runs rampant in poverty-stricken countries as well as day care centers and campgrounds. But the chance of getting it in this country (especially adults) is pretty rare, with all our means of purification and such.

But as I said, I wouldn't be too worried - people who contract the bug may not know they have it, so they don't need treatment. You don't need to have this thing treated, by the way - it will go away eventually, and it won't cause any life-threatening problems. The white balls you saw were most likely fat deposits or cysts from the stomach that the parasite had created and you were expelling them.

..........

If it's really really bugging you, at least call your physician. And if they treat you, it'll be nothing more than antibiotics.

Good luck to you!

.....

And if you choose, you can go on a search engine like dogpile or google and type in "giardia lamblia symptoms" and it will give you a list of everything.

Well.... Just recently (3 weeks ago) our small town had a boil water advisory. Because it was contaminated, beaver fever, also known as giargiasis or what have you. Where I live with my boyfriend however, we have our own well, from the river, which isnt the same outtake as the city water. But our well has sat, fairly shallow, and uncovered for 8 years and we have no treatment or filtration system on it. He claims that he had had his water tested prior to us gettting together and it was not contaminated, and no one else in our family is sick. I had drank the water from my moms city water. But, I have had these white balls.. For quite a while. I have never really questioned it till now. Is this the only possible explination to white balls in the stool? I have done extensive searching on the disease you mentioned and it frankly seems quite possible. Yet theres still a huge grey area for doubt. I dont have any symptoms of beaver fever now or ever, except these white balls, which I am not even certain are identical to the ones listed under the giardiasis information. Has anybody at all experienced this before? I dont want to get too descriptive as its quite embarassing, but sometimes when I feel like I have a bowel movement, and I go sit on the jon ( haha ) it feels like I have gone.. When I stand up to flush, indeed there is nothing but a few very small white balls. I always think, how did it feel like I actually crapped, when these balls are so small. Also I have hemmoroids off and on from since I was pregnant with my daughter.. Could that be a contributing factor at all? I live in such a small town, that has only 3 doctors, none of which are female at the time.. And am extremely nervous about taking this to the doctor. Anyone? Please pipe up!! Laughing thanks.. (ps. . . I have had these white balls for over a year) is that normal as well?
