Link Between Diarrhea And Copaxone? Posted: 09-30-04 12:30pm
I have been taking copaxone for 3 years
with no side effects. And the problem I
am having now may not be related to it,
but several friends, (also on copaxone)
are going through the same thing. Mine
started several months ago with daily
bouts of loose stools. Now it's to the
point that I may not even feel the urge to
go, and if I do, it may be too late
anyway. I either have to stop eating to
run to the bathroom, or will need to be
near one shortly after eating. It's
always diarrhea or constipation; no happy
medium. I have no cramps or anything
like that. I thought maybe it was ibs,
but it's just odd that all 3 of us are
having this very same problem. Out of
the 3 of us, one started copaxone as soon
it was available, i've been on it for 3
years, and the third person has been on it
for about a year and a half.
Anyone else have this problem or something
similar? Changing my eating habits
doesn't change the problem. I have found
nothing that changes it. I'm really to
the point that I don't like to leave the
house because I don't know when it might
hit!
Any input would be appreciated!! Thanks!

I happen to be on copaxone as well. I
started it in june. If you look through
your info it doesn't say anything about
diarrhea being a side effect. I'm sure
you realize though that bladder/bowel
problems can be a symptom of ms, however
it seems like too much of a coincidence
that you and two friends would be
experiencing the same symptoms at the
exact same time. I'm not sure where
you're at so I can't make assumptions
about it being something in your
environment. My suggestion would be go
to the doctor and see what he/she has to
say. I'm sure there has to be something
you could be given to help you.
