seizures I am 37 years old and this
nightmare has started as of last sunday of
9-26-04 have had three so far that I know
of 2 while I was asleep waking up in the
hospital was a very unsettling feeling the
third happened during waking hours while
trying to cook some soup the doctors have
placed me on valproic acid 500 mg bid
trying to understand all that is happening
and deal with the fact that my life has
become as one would say not mine loss of
driver license not supposed to go anywhere
by myself much less do the simple thing of
taking a bath alone I feel as im again a
little kid im to see an nero this coming
week and from all ive read about them a
little apprehensive about seeing one but
its like im in this big dark hole trying
to dig myself out of the muck with my bare
hand not to mention my job has now in
there infinant wisdom has placed me on a
leave of absence till such time they and
the Dr. Deem I may return back to work
safely so now another worry about trying
to pay for the med and doctors sorry I do
not meen to unload just so frustrating I
dont know what to do or what is really
happaning to me since alot I have read so

Dear james,
please dont feel that you
are unloading your unwanted problems on
ppl here. We are all the same if we cant
help one another and understand what we
are all going through then who can help
us. I know its frustrating, at least you
are on medication right now. It took the
doctors 2 months to put me on something.
I am now on 2000mg of epilim and 600 mg of
tegretol.
You will have ct brain scans, eeg tests
they dont hurt and then you will have mri
brain scans then you will have sleep
deprived eeg brain test. Dont worry. All
mine have came back normal.
And 75% of the ppl whom have the tests do
have no known causes. So its indeopathic
epilepsy.
I am 22 yr old female and I have only had
this for 11 months. Its so strange it
comes out of the blue.

yes it is strange how this comes on
already had a ct scan done wich showed
normal my family and roomates have tried
to help to point even getting me out of
the house wich even now that simple act of
going to a store worries me one good thing
is a dear friend of mine I have not seen
in a while is comming down she also
suffers from seizures for about two years
now she is the one that has pointed me
toward this board and so far what I have
read has some what helped me to understand
a little more of this

It is so hard to get a new diagnosis and
cope with all that this means...I am so
glad that you have sought out support...It
is great the friends and family are trying
to keep you involved and doing things
outside the house, too. It is so easy to
withdraw and that will not help you...
Do you have a good neuro who you feel
comfortable with? This is so important
and makes treatment easier. Ask that
doctor how and whne you should communicate
with him. (some allow email, others have
you talk to a nurse, a few will call you
back to talk with you) news things like
new seizures or med side effects are
usually things to check with him on....
I keep a journal of seizures, med side
effects, problems that come up (suddenly
not sleeping or sleeping too much,
headaches, etc)
i also request copies of tests and reports
and put it all in a 3 ring binder. This
helps when they ask questions of me about
all these tihngs and I cannot
remember.....
Best wishes. I hope you find the med that
works for you and support!
