Difference Between Yeast Infection And Bacterial Infection? Posted: 10-08-04 21:57pm
I was wondering what the symptoms of both
of these were. For about 2-3 weeks i've
been having a brownish/pinkish creamy like
discharge. It doesn't really smell
yeasty, but it doesn't smell too pleasant
.
I also have what started out as a red
itchy rash, but then turned into a more
burning/painful rash when irritated. The
doctor didn't have any openings for an
appointment anytime soon, so he just
called in a perscription for a yeast
infection.

Ive heard that if you take meds for a
yeast infection.. And don't indeed have a
yeast infection it can cause you to
actually get one, and become susceptible
to the drugs that are used to get rid of
it. Some may say that im wrong in this,
but for know I will think this is right,
and wonder why your doctor did this when
he/she didn't know for certain thats what
you have.

Yeah, I had heard that too. I was
wondering how he could do that too. I
guess he was just going by the symptoms.
I hope that's what it was, because I don't
want to become immune to the medicine.
That would be horrible!

Could be bacterial vaginosis. This is often
mistaken for a yeast infection by women
who try to self treat. It differs from a
yeast infection by the intense itch and
foul discharge. You can get this after
antibiotics also.Your doc can do an
in-office test for this and will require
more antibiotics specific for the
bacteria(usually flagyl).Good luck!Patty
