I have had a previous molar pregnany when
I was 16 years of age. I am now 19 and
married and we are expecting our first
child together. I am nervous that a molar
pregnancy may happen again. I had an
appointment a couple of days ago and they
found no heart beat, so I scheduled an
ultrasound this coming week to make sure
there is something there. Does anyone
have any previous experience with this and
might want to give me some input on your
experience and what the main symptom was
of having this? Thanks!

I have peronsally never had an experience
with a molar pregnancy but I can tell you
there are plenty of reasons why you may
not be able to hear the heartbeat. The
way the baby is positioned. The
practioner himself/herself not knowing how
to or having less experience. How far
along in the pregnancy you are. How far
along are you? I know I didn't hear
anything till I was around 15/16 weeks.
My dr checked at 14 and heard nothing but
he wasnt concerned because my uterus was
growing. If they didn't hear it and your
not very far along I wouldnt be too too
worried.

Thank you very much for something
reassuring. I am only 11 weeks along
tomorrow, so I know that it is early to
hear the heart beat, but having a previous
molar pregnancy it makes it more difficult
to know what is normal and what isn't.
Thanks again!

Your welcome.
16 was a young age to get pregnant. Its
more likely things will be better this
time around because your body has matured
more.
Best of luck

This is really a great site to come to
when you have questions. It makes it a
lot easier to hear from others what they
have experienced. The only problem I
really have is that I have this persistent
cough and it won't go away and am just
wondering if it is more a cold or if it is
something I should be worried about.

I have a runny nose that drips into the
back of my throat and causes mucous to be
coughed up and then 2 times in the morning
I have actually thrown/spit up that
mucousy substance. Other than that no
just the nose and cough.

That can be normal in pregnancy! It's
called alergic rhinitis of pregnancy. I
might have spelled it wrong. Kia had
that though! She can tell you about it.
I think there is some forums that she
talked about that in recently though.

Thanks! That is what I am kind of hoping
that it is, even though its not fun, I am
just more worried that it was something
worse. But the last couple of nights I
have been sleeping with the humidifier on
and putting vicks on my chest and I think
I am starting to feel a little bit
better...Hopefully!

I hate to ask since it might be a sore
subject but what is a molar pregnancy?

A molar pregnancy for me was very hard to
understand at first as well considering I
was only 16. It is where you either have
an egg where it empty (nothing in it) that
unites with a sperm, but then it dies, but
your body still is saying you are pregnant
and the other way is if you were to have
twins but something goes wrong when they
are uniting and they split and do whatever
happens and then your body also says your
pregnant but not. I had the pregnancy
where it was called a complete molar
pregnancy where all that happened was I
had an empty egg. My body kept having the
symptoms nausea, gaining weight (just from
the fluids building up in my stomach), and
not feeling well all around. The only way
they can for sure know you have a molar
pregnancy is if you have an ultrasound and
there is just a grape clustered looking
thing there and no baby. So basically it
comes down to I had the fetal stem growing
but no baby. It was hard to understand
this all myself and I still do research on
it. Because my chances are higher the
second time around and that is why I am
worried for my ultrasound that I am having
today. But another point I was going to
make was that I read that some people
don't know they have had a molar pregnancy
until later, because it takes so long for
things to happen. I am not real sure on
that, but this is one thing that is on a
rapid increase and I think all woman
should know about it.
And no don't real scared to ask me about
this, because trust me I have had to try
to explain it more than once:p.
