Help - Infection? What to Do?
Posted: 10-09-04 22:25pm

A few weeks ago I became really itchy in my vaginal region. There were a few spots that I pinpointed the itching to really come from. It stopped about a week ago, but it sometimes itches a little every few days. I really am not sure if there was a discharge or not. I think there was a sort of whitish, clear one, though. Would this be the bacterial vaginosis, a yeast infection, or something else? Would I need to go to a gynecologist or a regular doctor?

You would almost always notice the discharge from either of these infections.Have you switched soaps or detergents lately??How about scented toilet paper or feminine products??If you have not had any change in soaps or products, then you should see your doc asap.Left untreated, certain vaginal infections can cause problems down the road.Good luck!Patty

It sounds like an yeast infection. You need to go to the doctor for and pap smear. Yeast infections itch, have white discharge, burn,
causes some times before your period, stress, etc

Well, it doesn't burn. I just started my period, and it is not as heavy as normal. It could just be it adjusting since i'm still young, but also it may not.
No, I haven't changed soap. I started college, so now I use a communal bathroom and single-ply toilet paper...
So I shouldn't try to treat it myself with vagisil or whatnot?

If you've never had a problem like this, you should see your doc for an initial diagnosis.Next time,if there is one, you'll know what to do.Good luck.Patty
