Lung Function At One Third of It's Ability.outlook? Posted: 10-11-04 21:44pm
The doctor said I had severe asthma, and
that my lung function was at a third of
what it should be. I am on oxygen at
night,at 2and half liters. I have
copd,which he said was chronic
brohchitis, and asthma. I am on combivent
4 puffs, 4 times a day,and now he put me
on advair, one puff, twice a day. What
can I expect long term,life expectancy? I
do not smoke, and am 47 years old, can't
believe that I have this. Tell me things
I can do to improve my lung function.,or
is it hopeless?

Dr. Tells me that i'm only 20% just a
number. Went to spivia 2 weeks ago and
so far so good. Don't use oxygen now and
neb only 2 or 3 times in 24 hours a day.
Don't know why and don't question. Might
be worth a try. Expectancy is good until
you quit fighting. Don't quit.

Thank you for the encouragement. I go
back in a few weeks, for another checkup
and you, like so many others, have suggested
spiriva. I am going to ask him about it.
I am on advair, and combivent. The
combivent is good for attacks, but that is
it. I am getting worse, I think.
So,thanks again,and maybe the next time,i
will have a better check up. :d

I to was on albuterol and combivent. I
didn't think I could live without the
combivent and went thru them in 20 days or
less. Since the spiriva I don't use the
combivent and only need the albuterol
maybe 2 or 3 times in 24hrs. Good luck
and let me know how your next Dr. Comes
out.
