Question I don't want to sound ignorant, but what is the rhythm method? People have talked about it on here, and i'm confused...... ?

But it doesn't prevent pregnancy, because pre-cum can contain thousands of sperm which can get you preggy.
Even if a guy has pee'd and not come in the past 24 hours or whatever pre-cum can still contain sperm.

The rhythm method involves abstaining from sexual intercourse during the times when a woman is most likely to be able to conceive. This would normally be for something like a week around the middle of the cycle (a catholic would be able to give you the details, as this is the only birth control method sanctioned by the catholic church). There are systems of daily urine testing and temperatture-taking that help pinpoint your most at-risk days.

While it is true that it is possible to conceive at almost any time during your monthly cycle, it is far more likely to happen around the time of ovulation. The rhythm method is only suitable for women who are trying to space their children, and for whom getting pregnant is still acceptable if it happens. It is highly unreliable as a method of birth control -- probably something like 50/50 on a long term basis.

Wow. Yea, i've known people to rely heavily on the pull-out method, and this has worked for them for some time...But it is not reliable. Many of them that had been doing this are now prego, or have been prego. So yea, I wouldn't reccomend it. And I knew catholics didn't practice birth control, but that method doesn't seem at all reliable. Wow. Well thanks ya'll. I appreciate your help. Smile
