Auditory Seizures Posted: 10-12-04 14:11pm
I've noticed some people posting messages
about having changes in their hearing
assoicated with their seizures. I
actually coordinate a research study that
examines this particular form of epilepsy.
In fact, we have discovered a gene that
raises the risk for this form of epilepsy.
We are currently conducting more
research to examine this type of epilepsy
more closely. For more information on
this and also how you can help, please

Hello Posted: 10-13-04 01:39am
That sounds really interesting. My
epilepsy began 12 months ago out of the
blue. Unfortunatly I am not fully
medicated an I still have seizures. I am
constantly asking ppl if they have said
some thing to me and they havent said a
thing. My eyes feel blury and hurt when I
write. I think its when I am trying to
concentrate. Or focus too hard. Also my
mri and ct scans have all came back clear
and I dont have a correct answer about my
condition. I have seen shrinks. They
have ruled out the posibility of pseudo
fits.I have seen 2 neurologists. I have
had a eeg nothing was seen. But the
neurologist did say that there was severe
stress all over the test from my brain.
The secon eeg was sleep deprived and I was
medicated then and nothing was seen on
that one.
I am currently on the medications epilim (
sodium valproate) 2000mg daily. And
tegretol ( cabramazapine) 600mg daily. I
am not working because I am having
seizures frequently still.The longest that
I have gone in 12 months without a seizure
is 9 days. I live in australia an if
there was any information that you could
help me with I would much appreaciate it.
I mean if I was over there in the usa I
would come an participate.
