What are the little papers next to the topics. Some move....Some are white...Some are an orangish color...I dont get what they mean..Can anyone explain this.

Also-

I believe it has to do with a new topic, if someone has posted on the topic since you have, etc.

White is "no new posts"
orange is "new posts"
wiggly ones mean over 25 replies (i think could be over 50 but I am sure it's 25)
a splodge with an exclamation mark is for stickies again white being no new posts and oragne being new posts.

Posts as in since your last visit.

I think a poll has a different icon to a "discussion topic"

It has to be done by a moderator or admin, if they think a topic is important enough to be kept at the top for everyone to see.

Moderators cannot come out and say who they are. Just that yes, they are amoung us. I think some people know who they are..... Some don't. But no moderator can say "hey, i'm a moderator"
