Conception Tips For Bobbi Posted: 10-13-04 15:35pm
Top ten conception tips for bobbi
1)sex in the morning boosts fertility
if you're trying to get pregnant, it's a
good idea to have sex when you wake up in
the morning. Studies show that a man's
sperm count is higher during those
hours.
Most couples know that men tend to wake up
sexually alert. It's part of a man's
natural makeup. But with studies showing
that a man has a higher sperm count at
this time too, it might be worth it to add
some romance into your morning
activities.
It might be harder to think romantic
thoughts when both of you are trying to
get ready for work or other activities.
Try getting to sleep extra early the night
before, and setting the alarm an hour
early in the morning. Wear your favorite
pjs to bed, and then start giving each
other a massage when you awake. Relax and
enjoy!
2)sperm counts rise when temperatures
drop
research has shown that sperm counts go
higher when the temperatures fall. Here
are a number of ways to help give you two
the best chance possible for fertility.
* wear loose underwear
* avoid tight pants
* avoid hot showers and baths
* avoid hot tubs
* turn on that air conditioning
this is not an "instant" solution - the
sperm count will rise over several weeks.
So you need to create a cool climate for
the sperm, not douse them in ice water
right before the act.
3) caffeine, miscarriage and fertility
so you have heard this topic back and
forth... One day it is okay to consume
caffeine, the next it's not! Caffeine is
found in many beverages and foods. Humans
have consumed caffeinated foods and
beverages for hundreds of years. Caffeine
is found in leaves, seeds and/or fruits in
over 63 natural plant species worldwide.
The average person consumes 200 mg per
day, while pregnant woman tent to consume
less. Before I input my personal opinion
here are some myths and facts about
caffeine.
Caffeine fact:
caffeine is a diuretic. So be sure to
drink more fluids if consuming caffeine.
Myth or fact?
Caffeine causes miscarriage:
few studies have shown an increase in
miscarriages among woman who consume high
levels of caffeine. I capitalized high
because this means woman would have to
drink 6 cups of coffee a day or 700
mg/day. Moderate levels of caffeine have
not been found to have a negative impact
on pregnancy. A moderate intake would be
150mg-300mg a day.
4) exercise, miscarriage and fertility
if your baby is chromosomally normal,
regular exercise can help prevent a
miscarriage by up to 40% over a woman who
does not exercise.
Healthy levels of exercise, such as
walking, swimming, tennis and other
sports, can help keep your body in shape
and healthy. This makes your body less
likely to have a miscarriage and reject
the child you are carrying.
5) smoking, miscarriage and fertility
it has long been known that smoking
affects the growing fetus and newborn
infant. Research also shows that smoking
affects your chance of getting pregnant.
First, male smokers have a lower sperm
count than normal, and a high percentage
of the sperm they do have are subject to
abnormalities. This means that it is
harder for the woman to get pregnant in
the first place, and if she does get
pregnant, the chance of a miscarriage is
higher than normal.
Smokers who quit smoking found that their
rates returned to normal within a year or
so, so these changes are not permanent.
A woman who smokes or inhales secondhand
smoke will have trouble getting pregnant
and maintaining the pregnancy even if her
partner does not smoke. Her body is not
as prepared for carrying a child to term
as a non-smoker's body is.
6)pesticides, miscarriage and fertility
studies have shown that being near
pesticides greatly increases a woman's
chance of a miscarriage - up to 120% the
normal rate.
If you are pregnant or hoping to become
pregnant, be sure to take any precautions
you can against being around pesticides.
This would include use of them in your own
home and garden, as well as travelling to
locations where pesticides are in heavy
use.
7) determining your menstrual cycle
every woman has a different menstrual
cycle. Learn to understand your own, and
how it affects your fertility. The first
step is to start a journal of your cycle.
Write down a note for each day of how you
feel and how your body seems to react. If
you do this for a few months, you'll have
a good idea of how your own personal cycle
works.
Day 1
all period trackers begin day 1 with the
day that you first begin bleeding. This
is because this is the most obvious sign
that your cycle makes to you that it's in
a 'stage'. So in your journal, mark down
each new cycle, starting your count again
at day 1. You have heavy cramps, and your
body is getting rid of the stuff from the
last month's cycle that it no longer
needs.
Day 6
most women are done bleeding by day 6.
You may bleed for a day more or less.
Around this point, your ovaries are being
sent fsh as an indication that they should
be ready to release a new egg into the
system. The egg begins preparing for
release. Also, now that your uterus is
nice and clean, it begins growing a new
lining, to make a 'bed' for a potentially
fertilized egg to come rest in.
Day 14
around this date is the release of your
egg into the fallopian tube. Your body
gets a bit warmer - if you take your
temperature daily you may be able to see
this. You might feel a bit crampy, and
might even spot a bit of blood. For the
next 3 days, as the egg moves down the
fallopian tube, is the ideal time for the
sperm to meet the egg and fertilize it.
Day 20
at this point the egg is in the uterus,
and your body is waiting to see if it's
fertilized and is going to need attention.
The hormones used to prepare the body can
make you irritable and even make your skin
break out. Your breasts will get a bit
swollen, your body will bloat a bit, and
you'll crave goods that your body thinks
you'll need to support this potential new
child.
Eventually your body realizes that the egg
isn't fertilized, and begins to prepare to
wash out the unnecessary material, which
sends you back to day 1.
Note that it might take a woman's body
many, many years to settle down into a
predictable cycle. Many women never do.
Learn to judge your own cycle, and what is
normal for you.
drinking water for
fertility
it is always important for people to drink
8-10 glasses of water a day to maintain
health and maintain a good weight (or lose
weight). It is even more important for a
couple trying to conceive.
Water is critical because 75% of your body
is made up of water. Your body uses water
constantly to do its normal functions. If
you don't give your body sufficient water
it starts to hoard it - causing bloating.
Interestingly, the way to stop bloating is
to drink more water, so your body doesn't
think it has to keep the water it has.
Drinking water will help flush wastes,
keep your body running smoothly and
provide proper fluids for conception to
occur. So be sure you drink ample water
if you wish to get pregnant!
9)wine, alcohol and getting pregnant
while drinking too much alcohol can be a
health risk, studies show that drinking
wine daily can actually help you get
pregnant!
A recent study of 40,000 women found that
overweight women who were non-drinkers had
the toughest time getting pregnant. If
the women were of a healthy weight and
moderate drinkers, they had a much easier
time.
Some researchers theorize that, besides
its antioxidant and other health benefits,
the wine helps to relax the women. Stress
has been shown to be a key factor in a
woman's ability to conceive. Nature wants
an infant to be raised in a time of peace
and plenty - and the presence of stress
makes the body feel like this is not a
good time to begin a new life.
10)there are so many people who stress
about becoming pregnant - and once they
release that stress, their body reacts to
the new peace by creating a new life. Let
your body know that this is a wonderful,
peaceful world that is ready for a new
child, and release that stress.
Hope this helped ya bobbi
