What could be the cause of a softened cervix

Dear wondering, how far along are you ? The cervix softens when you are getting closer to delivery. It softens, shortens, then dialates in preparation to deliver. If you have a softened cervix now and you are not full term, it just means that you may deliver a little earlier. I'm sure you will be fine as long as you are keeping regular appointments with your doctor. Regards, .::suzy::.

My doctor advised me that when you are pregnant, the cervix is usually farther back, closed, and soft.
