You are unprotected on Depo only the first WEEK not the first month, and again, that's only the very very first time you get it. After that, if you get it on time every 3 months you have NO break in protection.

Doctors have told me that once you start the shot, your not protected for a month, then it kicks in.. Is this true?! I mean, I was on the shot for over a year...and then in december i stopped and started using the pills....but id miss a couple days and take the one i missed the next day.. so im guessing my cycle is now messed up cause of missing the pills like that?!...i just got done my monthly..and wednesday is when i went back on the shot.... that day i had sex without any protection, Could there be a possibility I could be pregnant?! Confused

It depends on how many pills you missed, we honestly can't say. However, you're unlikely to be pregnant as it takes most women a YEAR to fully recover from taking depo and have their cycles return.

If you went right from the placebo week of the pills into taking depo you should be okay.

Which pills did you "stop taking" on saturday? If they were active pills with hormones in them then you are fine. If they were placebo/sugar pills then you MAY be at risk. If you'd been on pills for the past year I would say yes; you could be pregnant. But you were on depo for a year and then pills for a month. Depo does different things to your body and it takes longer to recover from it. I really can't say. I'd personally take a pregnancy test if it has been more than two weeks since that time you had sex because there is a risk.

Okay so you were on the placebo pills? This is very, very important. WHat day did you start the placebo pills? These are the inactive pills, also called the sugar pills. They are normally a totally different color from the rest of your pills.

IF you still had some of these pills left over when you started on Depo, you are safe. If you did NOT have any of these pills left, and had several days where you took NO PILLS, then you are possibly at risk for pregnancy. It's a very tiny chance.

The PERIOD week on BC pills are called "Placebos".

IF you are on your period when you get DEPO, then you are protected from DAY 1.

To me, it sounds like you weren't protected from the pills anyway, with how many you say you missed. I'd definitely test now, even if you did have a period when you got on depo.

I'm going to talk to my doctor and see if I can get my hormone levels cheked, and to see if I still have polysystic ovarian. I'm 24 and I want my body to be healthy in the next couple of years in case I deside to get pregnant. I don't think I can tho and it depresses me everytime I have a scare cause deep inside I'm hoping I was...but the other side tells me I'm not ready.

And my boyfriend doesn't like kids even tho he.s got a daughter in Texas so that doesn't help calm me down.. We.ve had a few scares and everytime its the same thing, but I guess getting pregnant depends on the person, but I'm seriously deciding on getting back on the pill, I forgot the name but its the one that gives me just 4 periods a year

Several months, up to a YEAR. I've been off Depo since December and I haven't had a real period yet. It's normal. I'm not complaining Wink

I was only on it THREE months. I got ONE shot, it ended in December and I STILL do not have a period. This is 100% normal. You may have to wait a YEAR for your period. This is a commonly known side effect of Depo.

Nope, I didn't put on any weight.

If you just "think" you're fat, you probably aren't. Fat people do not have hard stomachs. I'm technically "underweight" and I have a little squishy pooch on my stomach!! Body fat can be normal and healthy.

But as for weight gain in association to Depo, that too is considered a very well-known side effect. Everyone knows that weight gain is a common side effect of using Depo.
