Swollen Feet, Weight Gain, nausia, rash, Started As Depressoin Posted: 10-25-04 09:52am
Dear everyone....
I was wondering
if anyone else gets swollen anckels? I
have been just lately. I have only had
epilepsy since um october 2003 and I have
never had anything like this b4. I have
had a rash b4 on one side of my face that
was itchy but that went away and that was
only at the begining of taking my meds and
ive had sores inside my ears that was
dermatitis caused by the medication. Now
I just wanted to know is this bad? That
my feet are swelling up through the day at
some time. Doesnt last long and when I
wake up in the morning they are fine
again. Just happens through the day
sometimes. I am taking tegretol cr 600mg
and epilim ec 2000mg I have had weight
gain also. I dont want to take my meds
anymore. I also vomit through the month
and I still have seizures. Im also upset
that this has happened to me. It began as
depression they said but then began having
seizures on my antidepressants 5 days
after beginning taking my antidepressant
medication. So I was told to stop them
and since then my seizures havent stopped.
I have recently also been noticing
changes in my personality. Things that I
wouldnt normaly do I am doing now. And
everyone that knows me says that I am not
me anymore. Its upsetting me. I am so
paranoid, and I think everyone is looking
at me, talking about me, I hear voices in
my head and my hearing changed pitch alot.
Like I go deaf a minute and then my
hearing returns, I think I hear someone
call my name or say something to me but no
one has said a word to me and sometimes I
hear shouting and fast mumbels words
inside my head. I think I see things. I
wonder am I going mad now. My grandmother
( my mothers mum) had a manic depression
problem. (bipolar, cleptomaniac and
psychosies)
sorry for the spelling mistakes and for
the long letter.
I was never like this before, I had a
happy life. I just know this isnt me.
Please let me know what ya all think.

I am so sorry that you are fighting with
so many things. Depression, paranoia,
hearing voices can all be part of epilepsy
or they can be part of another
condition.
I know it may be scary, but have you
talked about all of this with your doctor?
I see that you take tegretol now. Some
meds can also increase the paranoid
feelings and depression, I am not sure if
teg does this. You could ask the pharmacy
for their comprehensive list of side
effects......
The swollen ankles are a concern because
it shows your body is reacting to
something....Does change in diet or how
you sleep alter how swollen they are? I
would also mention this to the doctor in
case it is from the meds or somehting else
that needs checking....
Hang in there. It sounds like some scary
things are going on. I hope the doc
listens and helps!

Thanks for the helpful info.
I am
scheduled to see the doctor next week I
will mention this all to him then. I have
just moved states and I am nervous about
this all. I want to change my medication
because I cant go on like this much
longer. I read my list of side effects
and sodium valproate makes changes in
hearing. And tegretol causes swolen
ankels. The place where I have moved to
is a very hot humid ares and I have had to
keep my fluids up because I dont want to
get dehydrated. And the ppl that I am
staying with like alot of salt in their
vegetables when they are cooked ( boiled)
now I dont know if that would make a
difference as I only ever am a custom to
steamed vegetables with no salt added.
So I will talk all this over with the dr
and thankyou once again. I will let you
know how I go
cheers sami.

Sami, moves are tough!! I hope the doc
visit next month will help!
Are you drinking lots of water? That can
help flush the salt out. You might be
getting it in other foods or even drinks.
I have just found that some fruit drinks
and cocoa are high in salt!!
Hang in there. Hope you get all settled
in and things calm down!
