Is College For Everyone??

I feel like i'm so ungreatful about the
chance to actually go to college. I pay
for it myself but of course I have grants
and state funding to help, but still it's
me that's going to be paying off the loan.
Do you think it's selfish or even stupid
to want to make it? Like be famous? I
just feel like college isn't for me and
ever since I was little i've always wanted
to be famous and my mom always told me
"jennifer ..I just have this feeling that
I was put on earth to have you because you
are going to be somebody..Somebody very
important and everyone is going to know
you" and I don't know ...Tell me what you
think!

I sounded just like you not too long ago,
I was moving out to california to go to
audition while going to college at
uw-riverside. You don't have much of a
chance, considering you don't know people,
and now that you have a baby on the way.
But you know what...You still can be
somebody...And im sure you will be. It
wouldn't be a bad idea to get a regular
education....Famous people have regular
educations too. I would suggest going to
college first and to get a degree in
something that you are interested in, so
that just in case your famous dream doesnt
work out you will always have something to
fall back on..Ya know? I dont want to
bring you down at all honey...So please
dont think that! But that is what I
think.

Yeah but what if I don't have a baby on
the way and I do know people?? Should I
just go for it?

There are so many people out there...I
would say, keep with the college...Because
its not certain that its going to happen.
That is what I mean...Because you will
always have your college education to back
you up on. It will probably look good on
a resume too...Because they will think you
arent just this kid trying to make it up,
you actually went to college..Just my
opinion and believe I have been where you
are.

While its a wise choice to continue
education, some people have found decent
paying jobs without a college education
but its a lot harder. As for getting
famous, go for it you never know but it
can be a long hard road of disappointment
and frustration if you cant seem to "make
it" but with whatever you choose just be
wise with your decisions

Hey girl... I know exactly what you mean
by "is college for everyone." i'm sitting
here now, in my college dormroom, hating
every minute. The people are nice, the
profs are nice, the dorm is nice, the
campus is nice... I just don't want to be
here and I never did. My dad would kill
me if I dropped out and my mom is so
hopeful that i'll graduate so I won't end
up like her (she never went to college
because she got preggo with me). I really
didn't want to dissappoint and p*ss off my
parents and so i'm here, but I feel like
all i'm doing is wasting my parents my my
own money. The only thing that i've ever
wanted was to get married and become a
mommy, but that's just going to have to
wait now that i'm in college. If you do
decide to go to college, make sure that
it's your decision. If you ever need to
talk to somebody, you know where to find
me...

I don't think college is for everyone. I
think that there are some people who
should be doing something else with thier
lives.
At the same time, a lot of famous actors
and such did go to college first. Brad
pitt and sheryl crow both graduated from
my college :d

Missy elliot didn't go to college she said
,"college was for some kids but it just
wasn't for me..I'm not into the school
thing." but i've decided to stay in
college to prove my fool father wrong of
course. I was just thinking i'm young and
why not just go out and try to do what I
want to do and use my talents when I have
the chance ya know? Why not try to do it.
Who says you always have to go to new
york or california to make it? Like those
are the only two places in the world where
people get discovered!? I can go to
louisiana and go to college and who knows
maybe i'll even pick a major that allows
me to job shadow someone at a record label
and then I make it?! I mean really who
knows! It's all about taking
opportunities people!! Haha!! I'm just
ready to start my life ya know?!

I think you have to do these things
because you want to-you can't let someone
force you into doing something that isn't
making you happy or won't better you in
the long-term. For me education is
important because I don't want to work in
somewhere like maccie d's for the rest of
my life! Education gives you great
opportuntities for further yourself but
then again if you can find a good job
without going to college then that's just
as good. Do what makes you happy-not what
makes your family happy

Well i'm going to college to have
something to fall back on that way...I
have a great income either way I go. As
for proving my dad wrong, he's the biggest
problem and most two faced liar that I
have ever met (besides my exboyfriend of
course :d ) he tell people that I will
drop out of college and i'm going to be
nothing with my life and i'm not even
going to be able to make it on my own.
But wait a minute...Oh yeah..That's
right.. He's never lived on his own, he's
never gone to college, so can he really
say anything ...No I don't think he can!!
I'm a mommy's girl all the way! I love my
mom and i'm going to college for myself
and to make money incase I don't ever get
to become famous becuz one day I don't
want her to worry about money..I want to
take care of her and her finances ya
know!!!

I dont think it is for everybody....
Personally I dont wanna go and I wont..
Its just not me... I am gonna get a trade
instead im gonna do the hair dressing one
my school pays for mostly all of it and
all I have to pay is $500.. Even if I
dont want to be a hair dresser when I am
older I will have something to fall back
on if something happeneds...

Sweetheart, you sound wonderful! I mean,
it isn't like you are giving up college to
join the circus. You know what I mean?
Being an actress, musician is the kind of
thing that you really risk trying for
because hardly anyone makes it. But if
that is the kind of thing you truly want
and would die happy if you could do it,
then do it!
Going to college isn't a stupid thing no
matter how you look at it. Even if you
decide not to do what you are going for
now, you can always go for something else,
but that is education you now have.
If you can go to class, do your work and
get decent grades then college is for you.
If you find yourself skipping class and
failing then maybe you should reconsider,
but chase your dreams! What good is
living without dreams!
